Hate to be a Debbie downer, but I don't think it's gonna last. I would bolt metal across the opening you cut and then try some flat washers to spread the torque a little

Jt since that old one broke the way it did ya'll need to drill another bolt hole across from those two holes since you weakened the crap out of it by cutting a side out. Easy enough just put a bolt for right across the hole in the plate.

The bracket you welded was a hardened support. That fatigued over time, the replacement that you fabricated is destined to fail, because it’s not hardened so the stress it’s under will distort it, but it’s working now, so so far so good, search scrounge the territory for the factory part

I would definitely put a metal strap across that drill and tap it bolt it on should work perfectly
@karlfischer10113 ай бұрын
I think the cracks are from 50 years of everything. The pump has a lot of stress at that mount point. Every vibration from cavitation, hitting relief pressure or a jumpy cylinder travels to that point and the 30 lbs hanging increases the stresses. I'd try an additional support at the rear of the pump to help carry the load and reduce the chances of hose wrapping when the big bracket lets go. Most machines are designed to last 5-10 years so saving 5$ in 1975 got you thru 2023 anyway! Thanks for sharing your projects.

I believe to here's a lot of vibration fatigue in that bracket and I believe I would of made it out of a bit thicker steel and cut in a round hole,,but that just me ,it looks to be made out of a to thin of 3/16s steel material to start with so to handle the operating vibrations I saw when it was running
@jtsbarnngrill68733 ай бұрын
Very possible. It is attached to a rubber strap at the bottom of the bracket to the frame also. That should eat most of the vibrations. But indeed thicker metal wouldn’t hurt.
