Threw a P0138 on my mom's 2003 Mazda Tribute v6. Ok, replaced the S1B2 sensor with a new NGK unit and a couple weeks later it's throwing same error. Hmm, a 2nd brand new sensor reports same issue. Both of the new sensors were reporting a flat value voltage of 1.275v constant with no fluctuation, so yeah, looks like I have a wiring issue somewhere in that one. Normally, the o2 sensor would swap out and resolve it, but it sucks to be in that 10% of the cases (or lower) where the part itself is not bad, but it's an adjacent error. Now I have to track down where TF the bad wiring is. Thanks for sharing. Good instructive video for others.

Good find man! I have a similar issue and thru a cat code. One of my O2 connectors doesn't want to "snap" together like the other ones. Then I noticed my sensor voltage was way low on the bank 2 sensor 1 upstream kind of cutting in and out, so I removed the whole wiring harness and now I'm swapping out the connector entirely. I tried a zip tie to hold it together tight but it didnt help any. Actually that made it worse. I'm trying to figure out how to take the connector apart, but I may just splice it and solder it.

@HomieHektor QUESTION. both O2 sensor are 4 wire. on downstream sensor at vehicle wiring harness (with multi-meter) two wires have 3V each, one wire has 12V and one wire gives ground. on upstream sensor (closest to engine, before cat), two wires read 3V each, one wire has 12V, and 4th wire gives no reading ground or voltage. should it read ground?

AWESOME vid my brother, anyone can change parts, In Mechatronics you always have two breeds "Real Mechanics" who diagnose and find the source of the problem and then the "Parts Changers" who never fix the problem they just keep changing out parts . You'll find plenty of the latter at Dealerships because it's not their money , it's yours .

I have the same code, my vehicle is a 2011 Honda CR V. I replaced both oxygen sensors and I still get the code. So I'm thinking it's the wiring coming from the vehicle. problem is that the wiring coming from the vehicle looks very short and goes into another collection of harnesses and I can't see where it goes from there, it's actually the AF sensor which is easy to get to it's under the hood but past that it looks like it's going to be a pain in the ass just trying to find where it goes. Where does that wire lead to? how would you recommend I proceed? I just think it's going to be hard to have a comfortable reach for it whether I'm above the car or below it Thanks for any help you can give and thank you for your time

Try to find a wiring diagram most of the time are free so you get a pretty good idea of where the wires are going and start testing points good luck 👌

Just a technical question here, you said that a way to test the wiring loom from the sensor back to the ecu was disconnecting the sensor and you should have 400 450 mv you had that reading but the wiring was damaged! 🙄🤔 I wonder if this contradict what you said about unplugging the sensor to check the wiring back to the ecu? 😮

Same problem my o2 sensor connector part wires where cut sumone try to put it back together using black tape and has oil and damage wires. Going to the junk yard to pull a good connector to replace my damage ones.

I have a 2013 Silverado 2500 with 6.0. I have O2 codes. When I unplugged my sensor the voltage went to 1890mv. I measured with a meter and got same thing. I can take a test light to ground and pull it down to 0mv. Also I measured the voltage on the heater circuit and I got battery voltage on 1 wire to ground and 3.20v on the other wire to ground. When I measure with my meter from 1 wire to the other I get like 9.5v. What do you guys think could be causing this. I’ve checked a lot of things and I’m thinking my pcm is bad. Also that 3.20v is on the ground wire of heater circuit. Is that a bias voltage. It’s KOEO when I’m taking these measurements.

A year later.. yea the only thing that could possibly doing that is the ecm. The wiring goes straight to it from o2's.. unless the wires were tapped into by somebody for some reason, after market something maybe.. but if the line is has 9v on it thats not good, 4.5v absolute max..

@@Z-Ack thanks for answering my question. I later found out that 1890mv is the new bias voltage on the O2 sensor. It used to be 450mv so that’s what I was expecting to see. The engine ended up blowing up in the truck though and I never figured out what was going on with it. Why the heater circuit had that bias voltage I don’t know.

Great video amazing What if one of those te connections you pulled out the socket had snapped would this be a issues even if the wire was fine I’m having issues with camshaft sensor and lambda sensor but all changed and still the issue I ask this question because in the same engine I had a broken terminal that was knocking me from auto the manual on the gear box but no codes came up

Well first off they wont come apart until you have sore fingertips. Next you gotta jab yourself at least twice with whatever poking tool youre trying to stick in the connector. Then after you throw a few 20 curse words at it and wish that it goes to hell where its maker is from, only then will the connectors come out.. after you say fuck it and cut all the wires and fiddle with it for 20 mins and completely bent and boogerd two other pins you werent even trying to remove... Hope that helps, works every time...

Nice guys at gm and other auto mfgs,, creating a code so you may find the cheap wax insulation falling off the O2 sensor instead of using a high quality silicon insulation resistant to high heat and oil contamination
