Excellent video! Thank you. I just followed your instructions to replace the o-ring and crankshaft seal. A couple of things I had trouble with was my 7" circlip pliers were not wide enough, so I reccomend buying the biggest pair available. I used an angle grinder to increase the width they open. The other thing was the 1/2" extension bar to take the slack out of the drivebelt. I wasn't sure what I was looking for. It's basically a square hole you slide the bar into and pull it towards the front of the car like a one arm bandit. The crankshaft seal was easy to replace. I used a vernier caliper to measure recess depth (2.5mm). Flipped the old one out with a flat head screwdriver. Cleaned. Pushed new one down with wood to create even load until flush. Used old seal and wood to push down to 2.5mm recess. It has a stop to prevent further recess, but knowing when to stop pushing is helpful. Hardest bit is the circlip.

Definitely appreciate this upload! This is probably one of the most common places the B235 engines leak oil from. Impact wrench definitely comes in handy for removing the bolt on the harmonic balancer.

Nice job!! Mine blew on my 95 on the highway on my way home from work. She didn’t leave me stranded and got us both home. Needed to buy an impact wrench to do this job though. Pretty easy I must say for such an important ant seal. Oh, I had to pack grease in the pump to get the oil flowing again. How did you get it flowing?

Did you notice increased engine vibration on idle while these seales were leaky. My hypothesis is that the leaking oil gets smeared on serpentine belt and causes it slip occasionally giving different load on engine. I am wondering if this is a case.

Hey buddy I have an 07 9-3 2.0t I just replaced the valve cover gasket and it’s still blowing thick smoke from tail pipe. And there is light smoke coming from under heat shield of turbo when giving gas. Any ideas
@mattpfarr59923 жыл бұрын
If you have thick smoke it’s either oil burning in the combustion chamber or coolant which sounds like a head gasket not the valve cover. It’s also possible an oil seal somewhere on the turbo. If you have a major loss in power your turbo is blown hence the smoke
@johntafoya25443 жыл бұрын
@@mattpfarr5992 it only has low acceleration up to 20 mph then drives normally only when coming from a stop it has low power I replaced plugs and coils cause I had a p1349 code now I’m just getting random misfire code p0300 so if I fix the turbo seals I should be good? Burning a lot of oil from cam seals so ima replace them but how do I clean out the combustion chamber

@@johntafoya2544 don’t drive the car till repair (if possible). Random missfire can F up the engine pretty quickly.

Hei. Exhaust too hot = EGT too high. Too high EGT = not enough fuel !!! - check AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) while driving (it should be around 11) - check the injection time corrections - check the fuel pump - check the knock sensor. !!! Your engine has insufficient fuel !!! Good luck 👍
