Did the same thing on my 9-5 2009 last day! No more leaking oil pan!

We have a 2006 Saab 9-5 sedan 2,3Turbo and the last owner was driving down the road and suddenly the oil light came on. he thought he was gonna make it home but then there was white smoke from behind and the engine locked up. When we bought it we tour the engine apart and there was two giant holes in the block. Cylinder nr1 exploded and cyl nr 2,3,4 was damaged. So we had to change the engine.

I think my 04 9-5 Aero is leaking at the oil pan, recently noticed oil right lower side covering everything and leaking. Looks like I’ll be doing this repair real soon. Good timing on the video it’s helpful..

Great video on oil pan gasket replacment. Wife has 2008 Saab 9.5 Aero with 102,000. Immaculate condition, original owner, all repairs performed by Saab mechanics. Moved to Texas and hard to find mechanics. I sold Saab in Boston area for 22 years. Need gasket replaced and quoted $1400 by European repair shop. Very minor leak at this time. What is estimated hourly labor for this job?

Kyle have you had to do the sump mod the 9-5 where there’s bolts hidden is it transmission specific (manual/auto) thanks in advance

I would also be very interested in what models is this relevant for and what does it look like on the oil pan? Many greetings from Germany

Hi Kyle, I would like to do the same, however, I was under the impression that the subframe needs to be lowered, as my sump sits just above the subframe. Perhaps the auto models have a different sump or subframe setup? All you removed was the CAT and surprisely provided you with the appropreicate space to remove the sump safely, this practice is certainly not possible on my 2008 9-5 Aero Manual. Much love from the UK my bro, look forward to your videos.

Should be similar process with manual! Just get on in there!

Why would you use permatex rather than an actual pan gasket ? Was a gasket not available ?
@chicagoui92994 жыл бұрын
Kyle is this the same for the of manual as well? My oil pan is doing the same thing.

Yes, not much different. Could he easier actually

Is it the same to do this on a saab 9000 T5 engine -1997?

Quick question. I am about to do this, but I was able to buy a gasket. Which do you recommend, a gasket or sealer? I really don’t want to have a leak and have to go through the process all again. Thanks!

Unfortunately I’ve trying to remove a little extra motor oil from the dipstick the long vacuum hose some of it broke inside the oil sump , removed dipstick not find anything ! Then drain even the oil as well nothing, it’s look like around 10cm hose I drove it for two days no any problems. But just worries if will make a defect on the oil pump . Any one have an idea!

You keep saying sump pump. I think you mean pickup tube and oil pump.

Pretty much a waste of time for me. Way too much video about the easy parts, but no explanation of the tough operations like removing the exhaust and the other obstructions to pan removal. People who know how to remove the pan don't need this video. First timers can't see what your are doing, or understand how you are doing it. Sorry, bro....terrrible video.
