Long, but useful reply. Thanks to you and Casey. I overcharged the A/C in my 2010 Honda Accord with the Interdynamics Arctic/AC unit. My freon was really low, and it took the whole bottle that came with the refill gauge/hose/coupler unit from Harbor Freight. It seemed to fill really slow, so when I got another bottle to take it up to the recommended level, that bottle was MUCH FASTER … and I over-charged the A/C. Ugh. Your vid and Casey's supported what I though I would attempt - use the same system to discharge it. BUT, my 2nd bottle wasn't empty, and I noticed that when you remove the gauge head, the can empties! Dangerous and undesirable!! Watched vids on how auto A/C systems work. High-pressure side from compressor, goes gas to liquid. Low-pressure side, liquid back to gas. Also, noticed that when you remove the coupler from the valve, some gas escapes.

So In order to get out the excess without removing the gauge you simply hooked It on and off on the low side so It let's out just a lil bit of gas out each time? Sounds smart. My can Is still new so I think I will go with the route In this video.

@@beast11135 Thats exactly what i'm doing I just came across this video. I realized when I released some of the pressure on the low side the needle slowly moves from the red. No idea how this would happen my AC worked perfect last summer, but came across this video and gonna finish it up tomorrow and hope the cold air comes back.

7years since you did this video and here I am with the same can of refrigerant only the previous owner of my truck was obviously the one who overcharged the system before selling it to me. Thought I needed to charge the system only to discover the problem was quite the opposite. Going to give your fix a go before throwing my stripper money at the problem. Wish me luck. UPDATE: Thank you for taking the time to make this video! My truck is blowing colder than a stripper’s heart! Think the previous owner just pumped straight air into it cause I had to bleed it down to 19 psi before I started getting any coolant out before recharging but now it works fantastic. Saved my wallet.

Cold air liquid will come out. Use safety glass, and gloves. Don't put your face close to the valve. Use a thick towel and put it where the valve is when you are releasing the gas. The towel will absorb everything. Wash your hands with soap and very well. Dont touch your eyes before washing your hands. Put the used towel in the trash can.

Had all these issues and tried this. What a simply solution for what could’ve been a costly inspection/repair. Silly to think that an overcharged system would perform this way but big picture I guess this is a brilliant safety precaution to not damage your a/c system. Thanks for the video!!!

How can I release just the air? Or is thar not possible. I really don't wanna go to a dealer. But my wife needs air its only hot. The gauge read full and i only put maybe half a can in. So something is wrong. My grandpa said that way to much air in the system but he couldn't take it all out. it worked for my Silverado 2011 that was constantly running high for the cooling fans, high noise when they are at high speed constantly, and I read is a symptom for overcharged or air, and this fan at high speed happened after last gas fill I did. due to leaks fixed with 3X sealant can. Thank you very much for sharing. Now the truck still cooling like crazy and no extra noise / vibration from the cooling fans at high speed

This should be video of the year!!! And to think those AC PRO company probably could have same millions of dollars to consumers if they had your genius feedback!! First time recharging AC and was stuck on 3/4 of the green bars until all of the sudden it showed RED! Nothing but HOT air. Watched all these youtube video to say check relay, magnetic AC compressor, and if all else fail replace the compressor. Shops charge $1200+. Replacement parts rebuilt is $400 and new after market is $500. Of course not including labor. Being a GREAT human being and sharing KNOWLEDGE = Priceless. Sound like a damn commercial. 👍🙏🏼

Thank you. These things have a digital gauge now and mine was reading 29 for most of the process. Then suddenly the cars rpms started going up and down and the gauge started jumping back and forth from 29 to 65 and the AC started blowing warm air. I did this and now it's much better... Wouldn't say ice cold but at least now it's blowing cooler than it was.

Happened to me as well while following directions. They should instruct users to apply refrigerant in 3 second bursts as opposed to 10 second bursts and then wait a few minutes for system to equalize to an updated pressure reading...live and learn. Your idea to use the pressure gauge and trigger handle is great as you can get a pressure reading as you release some of the refrigerant without overdoing it...

My friend, it worked for me too. Mine was a notch over 55psi. After bleeding it down to about 35psi, BAM - began cooling. Took it out for a drive to get the rpm up so the compressor could fully pressurize and circulate the freon and in about 5 minutes at 45 mph, I had 16 degrees F coming out of my vents. My wife and family thank you for this!!!

totally work for my friend's car. his AC wasn't blowing ice cold so I suggested we use the AC recharge, since I have used it a handful of times before with great success. well, I must have overfilled his system (the gauge that comes with the A/C Pro is not accurate at all) cause the compressor kept cycling on and off. I looked up to see what an overcharge condition is like, and yup, cycling on and off is a symptom. so I tried your method, worked great. I got it to a point where it stops cycling when pressure builds up too high, and even got the AC blowing colder than before. thanks!

For some reason guys , when you are low on freon or gauge jumps up and down when compressor kicks in and stops and you keep charging it gauge showing normal charge and then in a day or two you find out its overcharged. Thats what happened to me also. But I already expected it since I saw a few videos like this before and knew what to expect. But just because it showed normal after charge the very first day do not assume its fine. measure it again in a day or two.

Im an hvac technician and just wanted clarify a few things. A high pressure reading may be a symptom of verious different problems. If you discharge the refrigerant (which is illegal so be careful) and it doesnt fix the problem then it could be many things. The stuff people let out that they call "air" is actually the refrigerant in the form of vaporized gas. To get a better understanding of whats wrong you need an a/c manifold set to test both of the refrigerant lines, the thicker one is the low-side pressure and the skinny one is the high pressure. make sure the air filters for the a/c are clean and that the compressor is staying on. Also if the radiator is too dirty or has restricted airflow then the system wont be able to let go of the heat and will just bring it straight back into the car. There are a lot of videos and websites that can explain the different readings and what problems they could mean. Its not too complicated once you understand how these things work and many problems are easily fixed without needing professional help. HOWEVER, if you are not confident that you know whats wrong or how to fix it, then go to someone who is certified to work on it!!! Screwing these things up could lead to major problems other than what is already wrong and can cost you hundreds to repair.

I did exactly the same thing you did and yes it works like Houdini magic . The compressor works all the time and the inside is so cold you can see your breath like in the winter time . That youngster you was taking about was on to something he should be using the bottle hose connecter it's much easier and safer. Save your hose and gauges people. God bless you for sharing this it saved a trip to the mechanic thank you thank you thank you.

I followed these steps and they somewhat worked, but instead of taking a cruise around the block to see if it stayed cool while running, I left my car in park and pushed the gas pedal until I reached about 4000 on my cars gauge, then the ac started blowing hot air again. I plugged the a.c. pro gauge back into the a.c. valve and it showed overcharged again. Followed the same steps again and the same happened. This went on 2 times now. Now taking my car to my family member who is a mechanic, luckily I have that option.

Don't use a nail use the bottom of an AAA battery. This way if the port is in an out of the way spot like on Hyundai cars (behind the engine) this is the easiest way. This is what I did on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. It helps to have skinny arms which I don't have.

Thanks man saved my bacon. Those gauges suck. I had it good with the vent temp then decided to push some more in as the gauge said to. Compressor wouldn't come on. Bleed a little off at a time until it blows cold again (can't hear the compressor engage in my car). I'll be adding it slowly next time with a meat thermometer in the vent and not trust the gauges on these cans.

As one of the pros on here said, I think pressurization can be caused by air in the system. Mostly air came out with only a little refrigerant on the towel at the end of the process. Thank you so much for this. So happy to find out that it wasn't my compressor or another serious issue.

Same product, same problem. I was using paper towels and a Phillips head to discharge it but it went back to hot air. Pulled the nozzle off the ac pro and it worked like a charm. You can even use the gauge to tell you exactly how full it is and how much more you need to let out

You just saved me a whole rack of money today ! I sprayed too much AC PRO into my system & the AC light started blinking & was pushing out hot air. I did what you said & now it feels like a Green Bay Packers playoff home game in my car !! LMAO. Thank ya, man. I appreciate it highly.

I was in a freaking jam! My A/C was low and the car was idling low to the point the car would almost shut off. I went and bought an A/C refill can. Did everything the instructions told me to do and somehow ended up overfilling my A/c. My cars compressor stopped spinning and the car Idled worse. Took the car to pep boys and they told me it was going to be a standard $200 service fee to remove the excess refrigerant so I started looking on KZbin and saw your video. I bought the A/C pro for the trigger hose and drained the excess until the gauge went from the red to it reading 40 psi and was on the green. Turned on my car’s A/c to full blast and man oh man that relief of saving those $200 and my car not being broken are priceless. Thanks a lot for the video. You’re helping a ton of people.

Finesse Kid Finesser compressor is building up too much pressure in the system. More likely restriction in the system orifice or expansion valve. Could also be caused by air in the system.

Finesse Kid Finesser the right way to do that is to take it to a repair shop that will recover the Freon in the system and the machine they use can pressurize your system to factory specifications. The do it yourself people purge the system of all Freon with ac manifold gauges and attach a vacuum pump to eliminate the air and moisture from the system. Using the same manifold gauges you then refill your system with Freon. There are good you tube videos that take you through both methods.

My system seems to be different from all the A/C videos. With A/C ON needle on dial is below 25 psi. With A/C OFF it's up near 55 psi. Adding more freon increases PSI when OFF, but remains the same when ON. Following instruction on this video does bring psi down when A/C is OFF.

That "air" coming out is the Freon which is a gas depending on temperature. If there was actual air in your system it would actually make the Freon acidic and you will end up with a leak in your AC system when it wears itself through. Freon recovery probably costs about as much as that can you used and you will have a pro make sure the pressures are within spec.

Thanks. That very, very helpful information since all of these DIY refridgerant car kits have invaded stores nationwide, especially since they also do not include very good instruction in the "how to" area (mine had 'pictures', very basal instruction, and not enough info' as far as how to use that gauge, especially aligning the red needles to the outdoor temperature). Good job!
