Your videos helped me out when I was doing my e46 m3 manual swap. Now that I’m planning on adding an e36 m3 turns out that you have one too! Keep up the great work bro 🤙

I definitely believe in replacing all of the low quality plastic parts with an aluminum/metal upgrade and OEM rubber hoses with the high quality silicone ones (if available) is a must to increase reliability to make BMW ownership easy as possible.

Your system might work but it is not the best. A BMW mechanic showed me a way to bleed the system without any spillage: Fill up the reservoir and and don't replace the top. Don't remove the bleeder screw! Turn on the engine, let it run for a minute (put the heat on full blast) and reach for the throttle assembly with your right arm and carefully rev the engine. The air will not come out the bleeder screw but out of the backflow to the reservoir; you will see a lot of air coming out until you see a constant flow of coolant. Do this every few minutes until the engine is at working temperature. Replace the cap and you are done.

Have you ever had your e36 smoke a little from the exhaust side of the engine ? Took mine out for a spin today and she was running perfectly for about 15 minutes , then on my way home from the gas station the car started overheating and was so close to the red and when I looked under the hood there was smoke coming from the engine

I’m having the same problem with my e36 rn . I don’t have a fan clutch but I been running it with out it and no issues . The other day I was driving and it over heated and I didn’t notice . When I came to a stop something popped behind the dash and now my 36 is over heating stuff splashed inside my windshield idk what’s wrong with it

you may have blown a coolant hose off or exploded the expansion tank haha. have you got a chance to look in the engine bay?
@E36_boat3 жыл бұрын
@@jinendow my engine bay is fine . I was doing more research and I’m starting to thing it’s my heater core blew 😭 I might just do the heater core delete and AC compressor delete if that’s the case because pulling my dash is going to be annoying . So I’m doing to have to bypass the hoses

@@E36_boat damn that’s unfortunate. I feel like I never hear that happening with these cars but you really never know haha. best of luck!

@@jinendow same . I never heard about it either but it’s the only thing that makes sense I checked it out today because I have an e46 to daily for now . But I was looking and coolant did leak Inside the car and the carpet was wet.

Shops saying it cost $500 just to do the coolant by pass 🤦🏽♂️because I have to take the manifold off . So I’m just going to swap to an m50 manifold and do it while I’m there do the bypass to save money

hey, any tips, i tried a system bleed, and the only thing to warm up is the top hose, bottom hose is cool as fk, now im thinking nothing is circulating the system, my worry is the water pumps gone bye bye. when i squeeze the bottom hose water moves so i reckon im either looking at a blockage or pump failure, one thing to note i was just idling for 15 mins to get it to warm up vs giving it some revs, tho i dont think that would matter the pump should be running constantly no?
@jinendow3 жыл бұрын
it might also be your tstat were these parts ever replaced in your ownership?

@@jinendow yeah we had a garage put a new engine in there last year, but i think we did the pump and thermostat on the old one i think like 2 years back. It's showing as hot. the question is is it opening up the valve i guess, there defo is a lack of flow on that bottom hose, and im assuming that would get warm before steam starts coming out of the bleeder screw. one thing that worried me when i took the top hose off a few months back i found a rubber grommet in there that had been flattened and squished I put it down to the garage being shit but i reckon something on the pump could have failed, i bled things back then and its ran ok, but with the cold winter it might just have been luck The mrs is workin nights for the next 4 days, im thinking ill drain the system and check the hoses for anything else that might be blocking things when i get a chance, lucky its just getting too warm by the time she gets there, i just dont want it being off the road too long, i certainly dont trust the garage we went to, they put a new radiator, engine and we still have the same problem of overheating, fans not getting hot. the cylinder problems gone but the damn things never been quite right on the cooling side
@jinendow3 жыл бұрын
@@ObiWanCannabi that’s sad to hear man but I hope you get to figure out the overheating issue. thankfully water pumps are not too expensive and aren’t too difficult to replace either. good luck!! let me know if you find the problem

the car needs taking out to a field and a round put thru its block to be honest :D its a convertible and the roofs done nothing but leak all year, its electric and doesnt work, i cant get it to cycle closed and pull the back hood cover closed. the door panel drivers side keeps popping off its clip, everythings got water damage or mold setting in, but nows not a great time to shop for a new motor. we used 4 cans of liquid molly and it just wont stop leaking in the heavy rain, back of the car ends up like a fecking pond. we are both done with it lol its been 2 years of on and off problems and i dont have the space or tools or will to do much more on the bastard I dunno why i went with an E36, i should have learnt by my last one, i had the garage put in a switch ignition and push button start coz it was gonna cost £400 to do a new ignition barrel, worked like a charm you needed the key in the ignition for the immobiliser to do its thing.. everything needs some special tool and a workshop to do the simplest job, i miss being able to drive round and use my dads garage and tools, mechanics need to design a car for mechanics, with removal and replacement more a priority than engineering. you need to take 15 things apart to get to the one bloody sensor that obviously needs replacing at some point, idk why they do it
