Great video, your other harrow is called a spring tooth , great if you don't have alot of trash in your fields, the grass collects on them and you may have to clear the spring shanks from time to time, but they work great if you have a garden that you work alot . We had a wood drag on ours and us kids would ride the drag and pick rocks and put them on the drag and unload them when we were finished .

I’m hoping to have my corn ground clean enough to use it. I’m going to try a cover crop this year so I’ll have to start early getting it worked in and time enough to rot.

On that oil pressure the pressure relief spring in the pump is probably weak along with the bottom gasket leaking and a warped bottom cover. The spring and cover and gasket is still available new but I just stretched my spring out some and put it back. That was the problem the whole time was the spring
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
I’m looking to try that this fall.

Very nice equipmeny you were able to get Joey. I angle the disc blades almost straight, run shallow and fast to cover turnips and rye. Need to dig/cut Daddy's old harrow out of the edge of the woods. Been many years since it was used.
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
Hey Lamont It would be neat to get it out and use it a little.

The first maintenance I learned to do on the farm was greasing the implements every spring. The one additional bit of maintenance my father did was to wire brush the discs. It really seemed to help keep the dirt from sticking. That was a beautiful song you played at the end of the video. God bless you and yours.

I have a Massey Ferguson 135 that I am beginning to do some restoration on. I have plenty of wrenches in the smaller range. However I need some larger sizes. What are the “larger”size wrenches you see most needed while working on your tractors?
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
I would say from a 1 1/4 down you should be fine. I like a massy 135 nice tractor

@@Jtwes thanks Joey. I’ve seen Evan at Country View Acres use some pretty big sockets here lately working on his disk.
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
You can get into some bigger sockets working on disk. Not to say there want be a big one on the 135 but I would bet 90% will be 15/16 and smaller.

That harrow is pretty sweet! Need to do some greasing and probably change the hydraulic fluid on my super a before plow day. Do you have a plow for the 300 yet?

Not yet. I want to get the lift all squared away.

Good looking disc, Joey. I envy all of the attachments you have for the 140. I’m constantly keeping my eye out for a disc and 1 bottom plow. Neither is common here in west Alabama. Enjoyed the video 😊

Are there actual bearings in that housing or is housing the bearing?
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
You got it right Andrew the housing is the bearings and that’s why you have to keep them greased. It’s called spool bearings.

If your oil pressure is dropping when it warms up, it usually means your main bearings are going bad.
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
Im pretty sure it’s the oil pump to block seal losing pressure. I really need to take it off and sand it on glass top and put a new gasket on it. We put new main and rod bearings in it over the winter. Yes I’m kicking myself for not doing it then. lol .

Nice disc Joey. It has never done anything. They are so much better than the old ones we have. Like I said I would like to find a spring tooth harrow like you have one of these days. Nothing short of a drag levels land any better than a spring tooth. Wonderful equipment and thanks for sharing the video.

Joey I hope you show working on the bush hog . I have an old one that is shaking like a leaf on a tree in a hundred mile an hour wind . I was using it and I hit a small three and it went crazy. I have a Mahindra four wheel drive tractor and it was shaking it .

Get a look under the deck, likely only a single blade left or bent so if a swing blade it's stuck and won't turn out like it should.

Hi Joey , starting to have some nice weather. I can’t remember any one having a 300 in my neighborhood when I was growing up. Nice looking tractor . I remember using an old disk harrow. Come in from the field at lunch and greasing it up and again at the end of the day. I thought you would take those bearings off like we did back in the day, with out power tools. L O L . Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend. 😎😎 👍

Those outer grooves in the bearing cups are supposed to have felt/rope/rag dirt barriers in them to at least slow debris getting in the greasy bearing area. In any event, cleaned out, new grease, new nipples to add grease ensures it will last a lot longer now.
@Jtwes3 ай бұрын
I didn’t see any evidence of that. I feel like if there ever was some from the factory that one would have had them. lol
@Stoneynsc13 ай бұрын
Man, I had one just like it except it had the add on furrow filler disks on the end. Kick myself in the butt all the time for selling it. Hard to find them in good shape anymore.
