Great idea in all 3 items. The lift sides are an item I may perform on one of the lifts immediately. Moving units on and off of lifts solo without the sides can be concerning and, at times, dangerous. I have 4 lifts in the shop. 2 have side extensions. The extensions are heavy and cumbersome. Storage, while not in use, is a waste of valuable space. I'm too old to create dangerous situations in the shop. Thanks Tom for the lift idea, as it creates flexibility and safety. Be good. There are some downsides to it like strapping a bike with extra straps as I’ve come to find just yesterday, but I have a removable idea about that too.

Food for thought on the lift mate, my old lift has just shit itself after 27yrs with my GTR sitting on it to in bits, been looking as some with the side extensions I'll keep this mod in mind when buying next one, cheers

Brilliant on the Directlift table! I will be doing the same with my Directlift because I know the feeling of having to reach that extra length while working on the bike.

Some good ideas, you should have done what I did with my lift. I dropped it in the floor, cut the concrete and dug it out and put the concrete back in the bottom and closed in the sides. Now the lift is flush with the floor and out of the way when not in use. Thanks

I thought about it for about 2 milliseconds. I wouldn’t trust this slab. And too much work. It’s like 900 degrees here.

Why can't you put hydraulic hinge to left and lower the sides?

Nothing to fixture to except the lift frame and that moves. I thought about that possibility also.
