wait... the fact that you have a chair is genius. I don't mind cooking but standing for the whole time bothers me, I should just get a little stool with wheels or something 😮 I like subscription boxes but they always say the meal should be finished around 30 minutes, I always take 1 hr without fail. I don't know why I'm making it twice as long lol

I NEVER thought to do it, but Winter already had this wheely chair in the kitchen and it’s made things so much easier!

I wish so desperately that meal kits were available to those of us receiving SNAP food stamps in the states. The law makes it so that "prepared foods" can't be purchased with food stamps; that's why you can't use it at a restaurant or the hot foods at the store. It seems to include the packaging of these meal boxes as "preparation" labor so the food card considers it not an item I'm preparing myself, and therefore not in the category of food allowed to be paid for with SNAP food stamps. The law is wild.

I love this format of unscripted activities in video! The cat in the box was delightful.

I end up having a bit of food waste sometimes too and feel really bad about it, but I've found it's the cost of having at least a few of the veggie basics that I absolutely need to keep my body running and not get pains and stuff. Left to my own devices, I would probably only eat boxes of crackers and stuff, and then end up feeling really crappy. I had a similar experience to what you've described with Hello Fresh. We did it during the pandemic because I got a discount due to working in a healthcare company, and we were relying on too much foods that were boring or not nutritional enough. For my husband, having the recipe cards helped him a lot and he kept all of them for us in a big binder. For me, it was more of the autism support like not needing to worry so much about buying the right portions at the store, not having to think about what meal I want to have, etc. Eventually though when the discount ended, I decided not to continue. I would use them periodically like you said to break out of a slump, that sounds really nice and helpful. I also used to make hummus a lot and stopped and really want to start again. Hope you are well! Hope Winter is feeling better.

Good on you, it's great that it opened your eyes to new things. Hope Winters doing ok. Ove the past year I've gotten into cooking with lentils, quinoa a bunch of nuts and seeds, gives a whole different dimension to my usual meals

I’m so proud of you for trying a new approach to food! It looked really yummy. I wish I could cook like that at home, but my partner has ARFID and extreme nausea. Luckily, there is a community grill I can use to cook things outside.

Fellow vegan here! I gave up on cooking on a daily basis. I now meal prep the same, extremely simple meal every week. I then alternate between my prepared food and prepacked healthy foods. This is the only way I don't eat take out 5 times a week.

I wish I could do this, but if food is more than around 24 hours old I’m convinced it’s gone off and going to kill me 😭😂 Like I know logically I’ve prepared and stored it properly, it’s completely fine to eat, but it makes me feel so sick I just can’t

@@DanaAndersen oo i have this too, i call it "food cooties" and my partner doesn't get it. so happy to hear it's not just me. there's just a vibe about it if the food from the fridge is not fresh in my memory from yesterday, it automatically inherits this "fridgeyness" quality i can't describe to others, after 1 day, and i don't want to experience "fridgeyness" so i throw it away. I do feel like my air fryer can get rid of some of the "fridgeyness" so i'll use it on pizza but only 2 days old or less. That is the exception, I actually got the air fryer to encourage myself to use my leftovers more including the fancy pizzeria slices I love. I need things to have that crisp again the second time around.

I couldn't be bothered with all that food prep. I would just want something that has been prepared and can be stuck straight in the oven or the microwave.

Me too. this inspired me to look up what's available for already prepared frozen microwave or air-fryer ready foods because that's what I rely on currently and it's already very expensive compared to food I prep myself but I am too disabled to do all that. I didn't find anything I could afford.

Are those countertops and cooktop low enough to use from a chair? Am I just super short? i tried it in my kitchen just now and everything is too high and my legs don't touch the floor if I move the chair up
