Good work. But I have one strange problem. When I run a speed test on my wired mag322 under the initial setup, the net speed is inconsistent. I only get net speed between 32 to 40mbps when my Fios net speed is 200/200mbps. 😞

Not a problem it's in the specs, MAG only has 10/100 ethernet. And the driver is really bad, you must stick with 5GHz wifi.

Mag 544, quality for live TV usually isn't full HD. The speed only gives me 40mbps connected to wifi extender via ethernet cable but when I connect my laptop to the wifi extender the same way I get 250mbps. Not sure if it's a faulty box

Hi Jason, great video and very helpful. While I’m not experiencing buffering issues, my Mag524w3 seems to keep flashing the input screen repeatedly, sometimes showing 1080p, then showing 720p and then 480 and then cycling back to beginning, as if looking for the proper resolution. This happens over and over for some time, then the program will continue fine for a brief while and then again will begin flashing the inputs. On occasion, the input keeps flashing to the point that the box is not usable and I just have to turn it off. Have you seen this before and do you have an idea what I can try to resolve it? I have a brand new HDMI cable and the AV receiver it’s plugged into is new also.

@@Ali-nd9tq Yes, actually turns out the receiver was defective as the HDMI port keeps losing connection. I found out when I wiggled the wire and the picture began showing more stable. Therefore, I taped the cable in place temporarily until I get it repaired or get a new receiver. Your issue might be different but this was what was causing picture to cut in and out for me.

This is useful, thanks Jason. Unfortunately, I can never seem to get 100% of my speed. Tried on two different networks: a) 50mbps gets 30mbps and b) 30mbps gets 20mbps despite other devices getting full speed. Using a Mag 524 with ethernet. Changed the buffer from 1-10 and it seems like it always catches up and buffers for video on demand/streaming. The TV channels are a bit more stable but occasionally buffer too. Changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 from auto DHCP too. Kept the IGMP on v2. I worry it might be the server but any ideas outside of this? Upgrading my internet to 100mbps and getting a wifi mesh system up in case theres interference to use 5ghz for other devices and 2.4ghz for this. Thanks again!

Hi. To me, it sound like it's the IPTV server you are using. If you are thinking of switches would try a trial first.

Wrong, this is a limitation of the MAG box itself. First off it only has a 100Mbps ethernet connection but running the speed test you would most often see bitrates of maybe 80Mpbs at max. So about only 80% effecient running wired mode. If you have 50 and get 30 that's what you can expect. In IPTV circles infomir boxes have always been known for having a poor wired interface. If you order a MAG box you should stick with 5G wifi instead to get as much bandwith out of it as possible. Why the newer models haven't introduced gigabit ethernet is beyond me..

@@andysledge It depends entirely where the servers are located, how much congestion there is etc. You can't expect the same bandwith to be needed based out off regular streaming, like Netflix because the quality of infrastructure is not the same at all. I even happend to know some who involved in one of the largest organizations. Many of the iptv providers are located outside the US because of privacy reasons so you need extra bandwith to cover that aswell. Either way, having more bandwith always helps for buffering reasons especially when many are watching the same stream so there is never a downside. Point was also this, why would you put outdated specs in 2023. Anything short of gigabit ethernet and 902.11ac /ax should be considered a crime.

My Mag 524 does not buffer but ever so often I need to pull the power off and reinsert it for it to work. I connect my mag524 to a receiver and then to my TV. It works fine while I am watching but between sessions sometimes it does not respond until I plug it off and on. Not sure why it behaves this way. Can you help?

Hi, The box doesn't cause a black screen at a certain times. It might be your internet or the IPTV service provider (URL). For the video setting, you should have it on the highest that your box offers.

@@ggtnxggtnx8714 No it's the provider, there really isn't any service that's 100% free from buffering especially on LIVE channels or major events. This is mostly due to XC logins or M3U being the popular choice, and they can be shared among people as they are not locked onto 1 device. So a provider will usually buy or rent x amount of server capacity to host x amount of customers. But when people share the login credentials with family/friends/multiple devices or just re-sell them to get their money back you get x+y customers that are online instead of x and the servers just cant cope with it. If there aren't bandwith enough for all, you get buffering.

Never hard-wire a MAG box, the device only has 10/100 ethernet, you will get higher bandwith using the 5Ghz wifi.

Hi Jason, I have the MAG324 box and all the channels are not playing smoothly. I tried changing the buffering to it's maximum, which is 16000 in advanced settings, but it still hasn't worked. @@thekushshukla 200 Download won't matter because the MAG324 only has a 100/100 ethernet connection. And out of that roughly 80Mbps is what you can expect from the speed tests of a mag box. That's the limitation of the wired interface of Infomir devices. However, the buffering is in almost every case happening because of the provider and there is no fixing that from your end.

Hi. Looking for suggestions. I have a Mag420 box and am having continuous and ongoing frustrations with pausing, buffering, reloading etc. I tried the suggestion of adjusting the buffering rate per this video but it didn’t help. I have it normally connected via ethernet, but its a long connection (about 100 feet), so upgraded my wifi and now have it connected via that, with no improvement. I’ve done some troubleshooting though and have noticed that when I run a speed test with the same ethernet connected to my computer i get about 110mb but when i run a speed test in the inner portal i get only about 30mb, but that should still be more than enough. When i run a wifi test with my ipad right beside the box, i’m getting over 150mb + but when i run the speed test again in the inner portal with wifi connected, I only get about 4-5mb. It seems no matter what I do i can’t get rid of the constant interruptions, some channels worse than others and live events can also be worse. I also noticed that its worse as time goes by (ie., can start a movie on HBO relatively uninterrupted for 20-30 mins and then starts and then progressively gets worse. Have had some success resetting TV, box, router in various ways, but just never seem to get it consistently good. Have a buddy with a similar setup and he always has perfect reception. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. It sounds like it could be your box or the server you are using. Can you ask your buddy if you can swap boxes for a day or 2. Question do you and your buddy have the same box and server? I got the Mag 420w1 months ago and have the same issue even though I have a really good internet provider with 100mpbs standard and personal IP address, been calling the local store where I got the Mag and they keep telling me they don't have any problem and they are watching at the very moment at the same portal. I hope I find a solution too brother but I recommend you stay on Mag 322 it's pretty decent.

Hi Mike. With the Mag250 is going to start giving you more problems, because of the new URL Servers. That box can't keep up with all the updates. With the STBEMU Go to setting Profiles and pick your profile go to STB Configuration STB Model pick Mag 324 also make sure that you deleted the serial number under serial number. Also try changing your player. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6LNooOOZ72IaLc I will be making a video on the stbemu, just on the setting and what to change.

Hello, my picture has started freezing on Mag 322 box. This was never a problem and it started 2-3 days ago. I made the provider aware but he has no answer. Would you recommend something, please? Hi Jason, I use a Firetvstick 4k for IPTV. I have installed and also updated the software to latest by selecting Mag 420 and ran the software update. But it still freezes. I've disabled network caching too, Mag is on 420, img updated to Feb 22. Interestingly there is no advanced settings in my menu, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling too, nothing helped. I see all other right from parental controls to reboot but not the adv setting. However there is an adv setting under STB config but it isn't the same and there's no buffer fixing option in there ..do u know how do I get to increase buffering without the advanced setting or how do it get that in menu..Thank You

Hi Jason, I have a Mag522w3… I’m having issues with freezing, lag etc. I have 1gig fibre high speed internet and the box is in the same room as the router… unfortunately not feasible to hard wire so connected with wifi. Every other device I do a speed test with I get 400Mbps speed… speed test on the box is 30Mbps. Have read reviews of inferior wifi modules in these boxes… and tips/tricks to solve the issue? Thanks!

Hi Ken. You can try moving the box away from the other equipment, sometimes helps with interference. You can also try using a powerline amzn.to/3GdRaqI this way you are using the box as if it was hardwired.

@@JasonTech Thanks Jason, rather than setting up powerline I’ve set up a D-Link AC1200 Wi-Fi extender that has an Ethernet port, and wired that to the mag box. I’ve gained about 25% speed, but the box still freezes, lags, reloads channels… The buffer on this particular model is in ms and goes to a max of 20000ms. Any recommendations on what to set the buffer at, or what other settings to tweak on the box?

I also have fibre and experience the same problems even though I have hard wired ethernet to my MAG250. If I run speed tests on that network point I get around 400 Mbps using a Mac mini, but if I run the same speedtest using the browser in the inner portal I only get 96Mbps. I figure they used a cheap 100Mbps ethernet card. That should still be sufficient to run hi res video but I still get lots of buffering issues.

If you are on wifi, try moving your box to a more open area. The other thing it could be is the IPTV Server you are using. Check with your provider.

Guys, a bad server gives bad buffering issues, so even though doing all of this u guys can still have the same problems once in a while. So in any case, the only practical solution it is to change your server provider

That's fine as long as you don't have the ethernet adapter connected to a network switch. If you do, that will cause a problem. It should be connected to a router not a switch.

Hi Jim. Most buffering comes from the actual IPTV server - box model like the Mag250 and internet speed. This way fixes the occasional buffering.
