I first learned of this technique from Caroline Sheffield. She has published an article in the Winter 2022-23 Cast On Magazine, entitled "Correcting a Mis-Crossed Cable by Dropping One Column at a Time". You can access her article by being a member of TKGA. If you are not a member, you can sign up at TKGA.org. Membership is just $25 a year and you get access to years and years of educational articles, including many that I have written.

So glad I found this video. Was about to rip about 60 rows to fix a cable error I had made and initially thought I could live with, but it kept bothering me until I decided I'd just undo everything to fix it. This is the perfect solution thank you!

Hadn't seen your videos pop up in a while but they have been tremendously helpful in my knitting journey so I'm glad to see you posting again! This technique is brilliant! Last time I worked a cabled sweater I dropped all stitches in the cable repeat I made an error in and it was such a mess to get it all right again.. definitely trying this next time I make a cabled sweater. Thanks so much for the clear and detailed explanation!

I was so curious to see how this would be done as I just recently figured out how to fix a stitch that should have been a knit or a purl but was the opposite stitch. I don’t know why it never dawned on me before. Such a time saver not having to rip back to fix. Excellent teaching! So clear.

So happy to see you back😘 Thank you for all the info you provide to make knitting easier for us. I'm trying to knit a top down toddler cardigan but having problem with it. I haven't found much info on KZbin. I would like tutorial book to purchase but not sure which one. Can you recommend any? please? I'm trying to design a cardigan with cables. I just finished crocheting one & send it away but I love to knit one. I have learned knitting when I was 7 y old only the very basic. I tried to pick it up few times but I stopped after I learned how to crochet in my late 40s, deep down I love knitting I have made few scarfs but that's it. Thank you & have a great day 🌹🌹🌹

Love this solution! Wondering... Could one just leave the pins in after you finish the first column? That way they'd be in place already for the second column, you could just shift them over a bit after you pull each stitch out.
@MtMomDesigns
@MtMomDesigns 2 жыл бұрын
I think, Go Rogue, that you’d have to wriggle and pull each pin *through* the stitch below to get over to the next column where the yarn is free. But likely doable if the fabric is pretty loose.
@gorogueknits5876
@gorogueknits5876 2 жыл бұрын
@@MtMomDesigns Since the pins are moved to the left before laddering up, they are already in position on the strand between stitches. In fact, you could probably just use each pin to pull the stitch out as you ladder down on the second column.
@SuzanneBryan
@SuzanneBryan 2 жыл бұрын
This is a brilliant idea. I would just leave the pins, then as you ladder down, move them over one at a time to the free stitch. They are sitting there waiting for you. The only downside is that you will have to unfasten each one before you move it and that might be a bit fiddly. Grand idea, thank you! ❤️
