Hey! Today, "Super Glue Cinderella" is finally getting the doll makeover she deserves! Her original doll is a 1991 Mattel Barbie Cinderella doll, and I bought her from a thrift store a while ago. Basically, her head was superglued onto her body, due to a broken plastic piece on her neck! I rerooted her with DG-HQ nylon doll hair, and gave her a new outfit and accessories! I also fixed her old body's neck, and just for fun, articulation, and to take pictures of her, I put her on a Wild Hearts crew doll body, swapped with Barbie Made to Move hands. As a kid who grew up in the 2008 financial crash (love that for me) almost all of my dolls were yardsale finds and hand-me-downs. I almost prefer it that way because each one had a different story to it that gave them personality, from ones with stickers on them, permanent marker stains, ameture haircuts and patched clothes. Each one felt well loved and went on... to be loved by me until they fell apart. I was extremely rough on my toys! 😅 I customize dolls now in my adult life and have given some of those poor things new hair and faceups - they are ALWAYS the most satisfying dolls to work with!

I had a Barbie from that time period that ended up with a broken neck like that. She was one of the Holiday Barbies. We used to take the heads off and switch them on the Barbies instead of swapping out the clothes. The necks on the older dolls were designed differently and were more like a knob instead of the fiddly bit they added to the newer ones. Swapping heads were never a problem until that Holiday Barbie.

Awesome! When it comes to making the mold, you might want to try a solid shoe to make the mold. Also when using the 3D doodler pen, you might want to think of buying a dremel bit to help with sanding.

This video was amazing! She should be a famous singer nicknamed Super Glue Cinderella for some reason, lol. I loved the part when you retold what could've happened to her...you never know. Me and my sister played really rough will dolls when we were little. Throwing dolls half way across the room, making them have pool parties in the sink, epic fight scenes, "makeovers" hair cuts...its all part of playing dolls, and anything, I mean anything can happen.

I’ll have to try that acne cream thing some time, I have collected littlest pet shops since I was very young and I get a lot of them second hand so quite a few of them have marker and other stains that I can’t seem to get out. Thanks for this idea!

She reminds me of Cher from Clueless with her makeover. Love it! Someone else suggested using a dremel to help with sanding, and that is a great idea. I see other doll customizers use that tool all the time. Also, another thing that may have worked to patch the neck that is commonly used is either air dry sculpting clay, or two part apoxie clay. Both are air dry, apoxie is more sturdy and heavier in the end than regular air dry, I believe. Dollightful uses in some pretty significant body modifications on some of her dolls, so it would probably be a good tool for that type of repair!

You know, I never really thought of it, but now that you mention it, I can clearly remember watching old VHS tapes in the 80s of Cinderella with reddish hair. I can see the color in my mind. They didn't digitally remaster them until at least the mid to late 90s, and by that time I wasn't really paying attention to Disney Princesses. I'm sure I saw the character show up at some point and was like, "Hm, looks weird somehow..."

Well in the movie Cinderella was originally called ella and she was always coverd in cinder so they called her cinder-ella so i think you should call her ella :)

I found two Made To Move Dolls with a missing hand(s) at my Thrift Store before. I swapped the Curvy Yoga Doll's hands with the original Purple Top hands. And I swapped the Tall Basketball Players left hand (due to the thumb being cut off) with the original Blue Top Hand. Just a side note, the Tall Baksetball Player, and the Original Blue Top Made To Move Barbies have the same hands.

That particular Cinderella doll is as far as I know, Mattel. In 1991, Mattel had a line of Disney Princess dolls. The heads say Disney right beneath the hair line but on the back of the doll's torso it should read Mattel and then the year of the body mold. For Belle I know it is the 1966 Barbie body mold. I thought I'd offer up the information in case you were still wondering.

@Sapphire Like I said in the comment she was my FAVORITE doll and any time my sister would try to play with her I would get soooooo mad and one day I saw my mom putting on makeup and I thought it was literally SO cool so I got a pen and just drew on her 😂🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ And the hair I would always bring her in the bath with me but never combed her hair and just let it sit and dry aaaaaand eventually her hair became a rats nest so my mom decided to donate it AND I REMEMBER I WAS SO SAD but my mom said she'd get me another doll so after like A DAY of crying I finally gave in and gave her away sadly 😅😂🤷🏽‍♀️

It was nice seeing a vintage 90's doll get some love and care. Although I'm personally not fond of modern doll hair (it feels too sleek most of the time and a lot of the dolls have spotty rooting now), the hair you used really suited Cinderella well. Thank for an awesom makeover video.

Wonderful transformation. I take it that acne cream acts differently on Barbie faces than My Little Pony bodies. On them if you use acne cream the stains go away but months or years later the bleaching continues so we use 40vol developer instead to sun fade.

OMG, I had a Cinderella doll just like that one, and her neck broke the same way! I tried sticking the head back on like that too, but I don't think I superglued it. The reason she lost her head was because she was sentenced to death by beheading, so I pulled it off (I was a bit of a morbid child, lol). I thought her head would just pop back on, and when I realized I had broken my doll I was pretty devastated. It probably isn't, but I'm going to pretend this was my doll. Thanks for fixing her!

I've been going through a bunch of toys---mine and my sister's---and among them are A LOT of Barbie Dolls. Some of them need basic care like cleaning and a day at the hairdressers, but there are some with hair like "Super Glue Cinderella" here. Other are missing heads or they have super-glued body parts.
