Fixing head gasket on Subaru Legacy 5th Generation - 2.5L SOHC Engine Removal

This is the first video in a multipart series where I go through the process of replacing the head gaskets on a 2013 Subaru Legacy 2.5i that has the non turbocharged 2.5L EJ25. The car is loosing coolant and overheating. In this video I will be removing the engine so that I can work on it with ease.
While you can replace the head gaskets with the engine installed, removing the engine in this car takes very little time compared to other cars. Having the engine out just makes the whole job go quicker and safer.

Great video, the music is especially calming, which is good, because this is super frustrating at points. Is the process the same on a manual transmission (as far as having to rotate the crank and loosen bolts?)

Process is simpler on a manual. No need to rotate crank and loosen bolts since there is no torque converter/flex-plate.

Amazing.. You make it look easy, but wow, I couldn't do that, specially reassemble it after.... I had a new subaru in 2011, never had a serious problem but I sold it 4 years later (I don't know a honest/good mechanic, so I change cars every 4 to 5 years)

How did you get the lower nuts out? I'm finding it to be a proper pain in the butt.

combination of universal joint socket and extensions helped me get those out
