Fixing Hemi Engine Code P000B Camshaft Solenoid

The proper name if looking for the part is Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid. Thank for the info!!

First off, thanks for the video. My truck is indicating the same code (P000B). Seems the issue could be one of several things. How did you know it was the solenoid that needed to be replaced? Was it just the first thing you tried? I'm unsure which part to start with as I don't want to make the expense of changing out parts that don't need to be changed. Any help would be appreciated.

No problem! Im not sure how we narrowed it down. We may have just gotten lucky, but our solenoid was completely and obviously broken when we took it out. as shown in the video. Maybe remove yours and look? took less than an hour! hope this helps!

So I was wondering did you see damage to the screens on the oil control valve? Also did you go with the revised part that dont have the screens or did you get the screened solenoid type.?

I’m getting codes P000B and P0016, P0014. I have 2010 Dodge Charger Hemi 5.7. I installed new cam shaft sensor and crankshaft sensor and car still misfiring, idling rough (sounds horrible)….sounds congested. Cuts off when put car in gear and check engine light still on. I’m thinking I need to replace this. Doesn’t seem too hard…I think me and my hubby will try it.

Check timing chain possible chain can skip a couple teeth on the sprocket

Another video here on youtube shows similar instructions but they call the same part an OCV (oil control valve). I've watched both videos 3 times and it is definitely the same part in the same location. Is this part the camshaft solenoid or an oil control valve or are the names synonymous? I have the P000B & P0016 codes and want to replace the part but don't want to buy the wrong part.Thanks

This will definitely fix the P000B code. We didnt have the P0016 code. I cant confirm what this is, but we understood it was the camshaft solenoid.

was the only thing a check engine light to figure there was an issue or was there issues well driving?

Joe MacPherson it was just a check engine light. The performance of the car was not affected.

I have the same car as you and the delearship couldn't figure it out after the couple times I took it in, supposedly they said it was a recall but it really wasn't. I just need to know how long did it take for this process, I'll be changing mine soon before it gets colder outside @smith twins

It was a 2-3 hour process total. It's not hard just takes a while if it is your first go at it.

Great video, just recent;y got P0008 no B on a 2008 equinox. Solenoid is listed as one of the possible cause, however the engine light is intermittent. is it possible it could be the same issue?

Sorry I'm unfamiliar with that engine. Could possibly be but I can't say for certain.

BuckeyeMCS yes it a oil valve control Pooob code. Lil late responding. Just having the same issue in my 2013 pursuit charger, changed cam shaft sensor still have code so im guessing its the OVC.

I would imagine so, but would depend on year, as they tend to make minor modifications to the engines after a few years. Easiest way to find out would be to call Dodge and ask them in the CAM shaft solenoid is in the same location.

Michael Smith I just got that code on my 300 6.4. I'm changing my camshaft position sensor first and see if that fix the problem first. If not, I will change this one next. Did u ever fix yours? If so, did it fix the problem?

@@5300trilla no it didn't. The problem was one of my lifters turned and it shredded my camshaft. Which eventually started affecting the crankshaft, push rods and connecting rods. This is a common problem that dodge and chrysler never acknowledged but they are well aware of it.

I had to get them done on 2 of my 2013s...the WORST! Luckily dodge halfed the bill since we were only out of the warranty by a few miles.

Khaled Orabi No programming or anything is needed. Simply replace it and reset battery( Should have the battery off the entire time you work on it) and that will reset the computer! comment if you have anymore questions!
