I just spent a bunch of money sorting my 1966 Volkswagen Beetle! It still has a few odds and ends to sort out, one of them is the chokes on the dual Solex carburetors! Join me and I explain what all I've had done, and we fix a lingering problem with some parts I have laying around the shop.

By all means keep the VW series going as well as your Corvair series. Any true car guy would appreicate all makes and models. This gets my vote for future videos. Side note back looking for another Corvair. Mr DB will be looking as well. Hope you had an awesome relaxing vacations. Hope to see you one day.

Nice Bug, the two tone color scheme is interesting i painted one similar to yours but to be different where the roof color lands back at the engine compartment i painted mine shy and followed the contour of the lower rear glass and brought it up and over the engine hood across the vents. Its a good look and gets compliments. 😊

Interesting enough the top color is actually bare metal with clear coat. It gets a lot of looks, you're right. Thanks for watching.

Ed, I had the same shifter in my bug, one of the best improvements I made, also ran a Pertronix ignition. I still have a soft spot for bugs, keep it up. Thanks.

Nice fix Ed! I'm sure someone else will be able to make good use of that idea. Kinda liking the car as it is now. I like the red stripe on the rims.

So you don't want to bend the VW linkage because may not match but you will bend the covair parts to the shape of the VW rod. Either way better to be adjustable great idea 👍

I have tons of Corvair linkage and parts around. I am happy with how it turned out.

how did those taillights end up on a 66?

No idea, it's a pieced together car. bumpers aren't right either. VIN says 66 though.

And the thing I striped down to Volkswagens in perfect shape shorten the pans for doon buggy bodies both were street legal in high school kind of makes me wish I would’ve just saved one of them the way it was. And another friend of mine actually had a Corvair engine and his.

If you want to own vehicles..you gotta learn to do your own work..or at least 95% of the work needed.... otherwise you get what your getting ..mediocre repairs.... not every pro mechanic is great at everything....older vehicles are simple to learn on..and great fun too...

I have lots of cars, have had tons more. Watch the channel, I do tons of work. I don't need to know the ins and outs of every specific model I have. I took the car to a VW specialist because he knows them inside and out and knows what's correct and what isn't. This gives me a baseline to work from. I know lots of cars inside and out, every detail, but this isn't one of them. I'm not sure what you're talking about with mediocre repairs. The gentleman that did the work on this car recently, did excellent work. If you're talking about my transmission, that was a few years ago and I have zero interest in becoming a transmission builder. Check out my other videos on this car, when I pulled the engine and trans out myself etc. I appreciate you watching and commenting, but if you don't think that I do the majority of my own work, I think you should check out the videos on my '55 project for example, or my 57 truck. Thanks.

@@SlowCarFix you..mentioned repairs or work not fully to your satisfaction...i been working on vehicles for over 50 years....and i don't worry about every part...i fix what needs fixing..learn the basics on each vehicle i own...or owned in my life...and own many vehicles too...that isn't anything special....this was my first vid i watched from you..i will watch some more... i laughed at a mechanic not understanding an Electric choke...his solution was to not hook it up..crazy ..that shows he is a hack...those are simple to adjust and setup..which is a normal procedure.... i grew up on carbs and efi is even simpler...when it works ..lol..

@@SlowCarFix My point...which is simple...is do as much as you are capable of doing ...or you rely on someone who might not know as much as they tell you.... i don't know what you do at all... putting new carbs on is fun and helps you learn how to troubleshoot later on....usually done in a kit on those vehicles..so all the actual experience is reduced... to setting it up..jetting ...adjusting....and getting it working properly.... you have no idea my experience either...lol

@garymallard4699 not arguing with you sir. It's tough to interpret tone over text. I just took a little exception to you mentioning I need to learn to work on cars. I am capable of lots, but I also have a full time job, family and 15+ cars on the road right now with only one that's a long term project. I do lots of work on old cars, but I'm fortunate that I can send out the odd thing that I don't want to do, while I work on other things. Once again, I appreciate you watching and commenting. I make KZbin videos for fun while I'm working on stuff. It's all a hobby.
