Some days are chalked up as a learning experience... this is one of those days. The wood I stacked up recently has started to lean quite heavily and I have no choice but to fix it. I believe I've come up with a better solution for wood storage at the cabin but only time will tell. God bless!

Firewood is piling high at the Kusk cabin. I'm enjoying seeing things progress, and appreciate the way you keep things real. Too many channels are all pumped up with BS. This is the every day life at the trapper cabin, and I think it is pretty dang cool!

When Stacking wood I was told as a young lad to stack it to allow a chipmunk to run through it but tight enough so the cat can't follow him.

If you cross tie splits within rows (like you did on the ends, but within the row) and tie rows together with perpendicular cross ties and then bridge rows together the entire stack of wood will be one unmovable stack.

Sounds like the perfect way to stack!! Thanks for the advice.

Who would have thought watching someone stack wood could be so interesting? I don’t know how you do it but you make the mundane entertaining. I always enjoy your videos with morning coffee and a pipe. Stay wild!

Wood heats us at least two times. Sometimes a bit more. Once (maybe more) when we cut, split, haul, and stack it. Again when we burn it. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

How did you determine how high to stack it? Would it make sense to have it lower and wider? All that cut and split wood is like 💰in the bank. Nice work.

I believe most people stack to 4 feet. I prefer 5 feet because it's plenty stable and I can get more wood per stack. 6 feet gets a little sketchy.

Much better, indeed. Is your cabin built on public land or is this your property? If it's public land, do you have to get permission to build a cabin, the bridge etc. or...? I'm just curious. Thanks.
@KuskWild

Government land but since this is a registered trapline we're legally allowed to have the cabin, shed, and bridge.

For hanging deer and moose. There's a couple of hand crank winches attached to it. We hook up a gambrel and it lets us hang our game.
