Nice to see the failings of the original set up recognised and a neat solution created. I hope it proves it’s worth for a long time to come.

I know it likely doesn't matter on such a unit, but did you measure the amount of deflection the clamp causes when locked?
@Michel-Uphoff Жыл бұрын
The old 'solution' (a simple screw pushing against a bearing surface) no, that was not measured (nor used because I didn't want to damage that surface). I did measure this solution. It depends a bit on how tight I pull the turntable against the housing. If I do this in such a way that the table can just rotate, I don't measure any difference. With a reasonably smoothly rotating table, the deviation is limited to a few microns.

Hi, this might seem a bit random but I cannot find this particular info on the internet regarding proxxon pd400 lathe, and I have seen on your videos that you have one:) Would you be kind enough to tell me what is the maximum tool shank size that can fit into the quick change holder? I am planing to buy one but I cannot find if 12mm shank tools can fit into it.
@Michel-Uphoff Жыл бұрын
The quick change tool holders can accommodate 13 mm shafts max . For more dimensions see: www.proxxon.com/en/micromot/24400.php

Thank you very much sir! It’s of great help. You don’t have any problems centering a tool with a 12mm or 13mm shaft? The machine looks very small and the technical data is surprisingly quite scarce. It’s hard to beat it for the price they are asking, this especially goes for the pd400 cnc ready version.

No problems. Every tool from 4 to 13 mm diameter can be adjusted to center height. @@AjsaOcuz
