Great video Dave. Enjoyed you measuring and showing the struggles. Hope the leak is finally fixed. I will have to show you a pic of how much room us poor people have with single engines ;)

Lol yes please do 😉 I bet it's so much more "difficult"

Well done, I hope that works. That looked like one hell of a struggle in that tiny space. I'm 6'2" and 19 stone so I'd have had no bloody chance. Those fire extinguishers are in a really annoying place. Thanks for an interesting video.

I'm like 3 inches shorter but 3 stone heavier 🤣

When I was young I was over 20 stone and 6'2" until it caught up with me in my 50s with heart failure!

Good find Dave. Pissed myself laughing each time you hit your head on the fire extinguishers. You should have sent the wife in there. Why do they make these jobs so difficult, tight spaces etc. for us normal sized blokes. Keep the videos coming mate. All the best

Hi Dave , well done for getting in there and finding the issue ! I too have a s28, it’s almost like they have built the boat around the engines ! You’d think they must put most of the ancillary stuff on before their fitted… great videos btw . S Mc
@DavesBoat3 жыл бұрын
glad you're enjoying them i'm pretty sure they do all the engine and the bulk of the wiring before they fitted the superstructure on top of the hull.

great job Dave, but I guess your head will remember it with the number of times it hit the extinguishers ;o)

think i cut about 40 minutes of video too where i was trying to work out how to fit into it there was at least 3 more skull cracks in there too :(

Nice work I have a minor coolant leak on my little fairline. Think its the heat exchanger.

Did the same job last year. The biggest pain was removing the water heater and reconnecting the pipework. Good idea to use the brass connectors for any changes in the future. Some people have put valves on these to shut off flow. On another note, did you have the step fitted or was it factory fitted? Getting out of the engine bay is not the easiest thing to do on the S28!
@DavesBoat3 жыл бұрын
I did consider valves but didn't think there was much point as either way the pipes will spill their coolant everywhere if you split them etc so couldn't see a benefit. The step is always there I assumed it was factory standard as I don't think I'd be able to get out without it :) there's screw holes where there was another step next to it at some point which would make sense as the current one is too high without using the cross member as a step up first so a 2nd lower step would make sense. When I get chance i'll get the welder out buy some stainless and may actually make another one

Good video and great help for me BUT did you reset the temperature sensor? I have just refitted the coolant expansion tank on one of my Kad 32s (and by the way no videos anywhere on how best to do this) and now my temperature gauge does not work. Cannot find any sensible advice as to how to do this. Any advice ?
@DavesBoat Жыл бұрын
sensor doesn't need resetting on these if the sensor isn't reading now I would suspect its more likely that you have an air lock in the system and the coolant isn't hitting the sensor its self. the sensor is located underneath the exhaust manifold making it very difficult to get to there's also (on the starboard) the steering cooler which is a low point in the system where air can get stuck. Bleeding the entire system is a pain in the ass and I got lucky when I did it that I managed to get all the air out by just squeezing the pipes with the expansion cap off for about 30 minutes with the engine running and it managed to get it all pulled through. i just kept checking after every run for a few weeks let any more air out that worked its way out as the boat moved etc.

Dave, have you considered cutting a hatch in where the bulkhead access is? Would make that an easy job
@DavesBoat3 жыл бұрын
Could do but I'd still have to find a secure bulkhead fitting to seal it again and not sure i have the access to the back side around the calorifier to do that it'd become a big strip down job. Something I'm not keen on where possible mostly because I like using the boat so I get a few hours using it at a weekend and a few hours tinkering on it not really time to take on huge jobs.
@Toby_the_Glen2 жыл бұрын
Just out of interest, what is the Sealine factory official routing for the pipes?
@DavesBoat2 жыл бұрын
Usually around the back and away from the belts I just loop them over the back the water pump but ideally they should go behind the assembly and alternator and behind the steel beam
@marchingontogether25713 жыл бұрын
change the belt , better safe than sorry

Haha I've got loads of spares on board while.im just staying local within the river it's not a problem but I'll probably change it before we go off shore
