Fun to see old FLT. However the trans is a first generation 5 speed not a cowpie 4 speed. The rubber glides went to the 5 speed. The last of the hard mounted FLH were 4 speed up thru 1985. Great video.

That's exactly the exhaust I'm looking for for my 03 Heritage Springer...nice. I own an 80 FXB Sturgis with stock 2/1 so quiet, but love the look.

That's a great deal from Advan. Be careful tightening those extended screws down. The heads sometimes break off. Ask me how I know. 😢

Definitely take that bike to Biketoberfest. I do believe I prefer the teardrop to the new air cleaner cover though. The shiny chrome goes well with the exhaust.

I bought a new 1979 FLH in the same color. The dealer was a close friend of mine who was honest about all the quality issues that were prevalent with AMF during that time frame. He knew I was a distance rider and suggested that we tear down the bike and go thru everything including the engine. His lead mechanic (we called them mechanics back then) focused on the engine and trans. We found the inner primary had a casting flaw and the factory had used some sealant instead of just using a good one. Lots of other problems like two different front fork springs and several loose nuts and bolts. All in all it was money well spent and the bike never let me down in 93k miles. Life got in the way and I had to sell it and missed it for over 30 years. I had several other bikes over the years but I really missed the gold color so I finally decided to make my own gold bike. I tore down a 2018 Ultra and created another gold bike that I love. By the way, 2 of my riding buddies bought 1980 FLTs and it seemed AMF's quality issues got even worse and while their bikes were certainly more comfortable to ride, they both traded them in even before a year old. Since your bike still exists, maybe the previous owners had corrected any AMF bugs it may have had. Good luck.

Cool looking bike. Mine's an 83 shovel low rider. I used to run drag pipes. I could never get my S&S tuned to where I liked it. I put on slip on mufflers and it made all the difference in the world. I also have a 2020 Sporty EVO. I've been riding my shovel since 1990. Never owned a Twin Cam or Milwaukee 8 so I don't know what I am missing. A friend of mine said you ought to get a late model, it's like putting a barcalounger recliner on your bike and cruising down the road at 100 mph. lol.

Gonna say it's probably a wiring issue, unless the plug is melted it's hard for a short to be in the plug, maybe a wire going to the lights in the front fairing?

On those older S&s carbs I usually change out the straight fuel inlet valve to the newer style 90 swivel so that the fuel line can go straight through between the cylinders to the petcock so brings the risk of the fuel line splitting… it’s about $30 up grade

I looked at similar things for my shovel, teardrop was only shiny part on this bike also. (Well, going to polish just to have some fun with the previous owner) Went for a Bee Blocker air filter and similar enricher knob and adjusters. Anti-depressive (bike parts) sure aren't a cheap way to get through winter!

If it’s not too late, you should make those seats look like the original seat, but of course a lot more comfortable. That would really set up Bike off.

AdvanBlack's products look good, I'll give them that. The only problem I have with them is thar they don't make parts for Dynas, let alone older ones like mine (I have a 2003 Wide Glide) and I would love to see them make some parts for bikes mine's age, like fairings or seats and whatnot.
@danielworsham5609Ай бұрын
That seat and the passenger backrest are both Harley but they came out on the 86 FLHT. I had an 85 FLHT Shriners bike and bought the 86 seat and backrest upgrade for the 85. It came with a metal plate to mount in the bottom of the trunk so you could move the trunk back a couple inches to give you room for the bigger passenger backrest.
