Same I experienced that error and was able to solve it. You can’t simply just type the date when the macOS was released. The main issue here is the codesigning in which it has expiration over certain period of time. Best remedy if you forgot when did you create the bootable installer and if you have another device is to re-install the installer app to the applications folder. Get the app info by right clicking the icon and use that date WHEN IT WAS CREATED Trust me, it works like a charm

Didn’t work for me HOWEVER I HAVE THE SOLUTION. I contacted apple support through texting. I learned that all I had to do was plug in an Ethernet cord into the computer (instead of Wi-Fi) and shut it off. Then turn it on- as soon as you release power button, hold the following buttons down on the keyboard: “command + option + shift + ‘r’ “. Hold until the internet startup (spinning globe) appears. If you’re hooked via an Ethernet cord before you turned it on- it should only take a couple minutes. From there - I manually erased the Macintosh HD drive on the disk utility thing . Then I backed out and tried installing the OSX. It actually suggested Lion instead of capital and it WORKED!!!! The first try it “timed out” so I just did it again and it really worked!!! Hope this helps. I used this for a mid-2011 iMac

Previously when I tried the internet “spinning globe” startup- it took HOURS to try to load and then it timed out. You have to be plugged into the internet by Ethernet cord before you start the computer. It worked so fast. I’m so happy

Hi, thanks for the nfo, it was the first time i could go so far in the re installation of El Capitan, after a complete installation it reboot and say that it can not continue because of components missing ?!?! In short: go to terminal. Type date. Check it is accurate, if not type data and then the date in the format of ddmmmmhhyyyy and then enter. This didn't need to be 6 minutes long.
