I love this! Making your momma happy is priceless! I moved to Texas in order to escape the harsh winters of Minnesota and my wife and I chose a house that had enough rooms to dedicate one for my mother, but she never had the chance to see it because she didn’t make it out of surgery for her heart. I miss my mom very much and seeing someone put this kind of effort into making their mother happy just makes me feel happy. Bless you all and keep doing what you’re doing!

The MG looks great! I think that the green was a good choice and makes the car look so much better. I was a pretty good DIY mechanic in my day but painter...not so much. I did get better but the "after pain" work was not cost effective. The strangest paint technique I ever saw was in the early sixties. A buddy and I were swapping out a carb/manifold setup on his car in a closed auto dealership garage. A few stalls down a guy pulled a 1956 Pontiac in and using a piece of metal window blind and some kind of grease proceeded to "mask" the chrome of the entire car except for the windows, grill and tires. we just laughed it off and continued our work. A few hours later he returned and wiped off the grease and hosed down the car. We walked over to look at it and were amazed at how great it looked. The paint job looked fantastic! We saw other cars he painted and they were all beautiful. Really strange though.

Watching you all work on the MG reminds me of the time that I spent polishing cars getting rid of the oxidation. I did a couple of family cars, and two of mine. My then wife couldn't understand why I wanted to spend hours rubbing on a car. I worked on a small part of the hood. She was surprised at the difference that it made. Then she was dumbfounded that I spent an entire weekend doing that one thing all day long, that is until people commented on how nice the car looked. Typically I used to levels of rubbing compound, 1 polishing compound, then finally wax. Oh, all by hand. And lots and lots of really soft towels, long before microfiber. Worth every minute.

WOW! I also recently picked up a 1976 Midget, like the one I had at age 22. I was lucky enough to get the same year and color of my original one. And it has no rust. The paint however has seen better days. I need an Aaron and Emily in my life, to do all the things that you two do so well! Really enjoyed taking this journey with you all!

Single stage plan color isn't too hard to spray, but the metallics make it a challenge. Often people will mix in clear on the last coat... which sort-of defeats the purpose of single stage. But any garage spray is going to require cut and buff. Now what sucks is sometimes when you do it as soon as you did, some sanding scratches will show up later on after buffing as the paint cures.

It came out fantastic,! I like watching happy seniors 'cause I are one... When busy, we live a bit over a mile from the town drive to, or ride the electric bikes to fast food court as all the fast food places are really close together. Today was Arby's, tomorrow may be Taco Bell. If my wife isn't around, like yesterday, I go to a local "Chinese" Buffet that has a bit of everything, so I eat mostly verities of fish, shrimp, salmon, and mussels with sushi ginger, sea weed salad and a little sushi. The wife doesn't like the place, so I go when she is shopping or visiting relatives. (If you would be willing to adopt a spare parent, I prefer an MGB in metallic black like I had in my 20s 😎)

I had a motorcycle back in the 1980s and my buddy painted it with several coats of black laqure and I hand polised it between coats. Then he painted several coats of clear ( polished between ) then he shot the last coat of clear with metalic flake mixed in it. It was so cool it was like the flakes were floating above the paint!

Well done on the a Mg paint. If i can add a a tip from as im a Automotive painter. When doing the Bonnet boot or roof .I noticed you went from the middle to our side back to the middle to outside edge and across the panel. That's how you get dry spray. Start from the guard edge of the bonnet to the middle from the middle to the outta edge length ways. Keeping the paint wet at all times. Roof &Boot Edge to middle middle to outside edge length ways only.

Little MG looks great! The bumper mount holes up front would be a great spot to put some led Light bar driving lights. Have to measure the holes. But you can use some acrylic plastic to cover the holes from the back side and a sheet metal cut out as a bracket to hold it in place. 4 small Chrome or stainless steel self tappers screws through the acrylic and sheet metal to hold the covers in place. Then mount your light bars behind.

That's a tidy looking migdet 😄 It's amazing how wet sanding can knock down and re-level the roughest of paint finishes. If you want to take the paint finish to the next level and further enhance the depth of the gloss and optical clarity, try switching to a rotary polisher and the difference will be night and day. You could flick over the rear light clusters with the polisher too and they should come up like new.
