Fixing slightly bowed neck on a Spanish classical guitar

As this kind of a guitars haven`t truss rod (mostly), this is a way to straighten a neck. With time wood can become dryer and because of this process fretboard may become crooked and kinda with humps, in worst cases it can became twisted along the neck direction (that a lot more work). And even if it is a fine quality guitar, unfortunately, it still can happen.
So even if it looks like a bit "overkill" - it is only way if you want some low setup without excessive buzzing.
Also we launch YT sponsorship, and already have educational content about fretworks.
Detailed description of video, tools and agents used will be a bit later on my Patreon.

It's because of this video that i learned most spanish classical guitars don't have truss rods!! and the nut isn't glued in either, this is so fun to learn! I have been fixing mine and all my friends' electric guitars and basses for a long time but i've never been confident enough to try acoustic or classical guitars, but watching you has really helped give me that confidence!

Yeah, the tension on classical nylon string guitars is generally much lower than on steel string guitars, so they usually don’t need truss rods.

Interesting string wrapping and nut filing techniques. No testing with a gauge on the first and a tuner on the third fret? What up with that slotted saddle? We do it totally different at my shop.
@TanyaShpachuk
@TanyaShpachuk 9 ай бұрын
Just a standard classic way of wrapping. After all manipulations with neck - it`s turned out that nut require just a bit of filing, so in this case I check it by a light gap between sting and 1st fret. And that was not a slots on a saddle (😅), metal can leave some dark stains on Graphtech nuts and saddles, I didn`t want to sand it from that side, bc stains not really big, ang overall geometry was prefect 😉

Hi. Great video, really instructing . I plan on restoring an old 50s or 60 parlor steel strings guitar with a bowed neck. I was wondering why you waxed (I suppose it's wax) the fingerboard before doing the fretwork. I would have assumed that it's done in the finishing process. I add that I'm pretty much ignorant about luthier work😅.
