We need some videos on soldering tips and tricks because I am aggressively average at best lol. Enjoy the videos man, very zen!

Thanks for the kind words! I generally sprinkle those kinds of tips and tricks into the videos since I try to shoot them as a hybrid of entertainment and how to. Though I classify my soldering skills at aggressively average as well hahaha. I'm editing a Game Gear video now you'll see those average skills at work 😂

@titanrepairs, That's awesome as I just recently bought a game gear in need of recapping! Trust me, my soldering skills are non-existent, haha

@@MrGlock55 what's funny is the video I'm working on is recapping a Game Gear with my mediocre soldering skills 😂😂😂 Seriously though it's not a bad job. Time consuming yeah but you'll be fine 😁 But just be prepared that it is possible the screen may be dead too. You don't find that out until you recap. Which is also leading to another video I'm planning on shooting this week lol.

Thank you for the guide and for providing a link to the replacement part! I successfully changed the analog sticks on my controller and the drifting problem is gone!

I'm glad this helped! 👏👏👏👏

Ran into one of these today. I was surprised by solder-less analogs connected with ribbon like the rest of the buttons. They use those rubber gaskets things to keep tight contact between the pins and ribbon. Also I noticed that the 3 pot pins had like corrosion or some type oxidation so maybe that’s why they didn’t stick with this design ?

Awesome video! Just throwing it out there that the Kakstar replacement batteries do sit a bit better in there. So far in my experience they have been reliable as well.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into that battery. I'm always up to try new things and products.

Never seen this one before. I doubt you'll find any 4-pin sticks drifting. Those are hall-effect. Sony probably replaced them with Alps potentiometers as a cost-cutting measure in later revisions, hence this oddity. The 3-pin ones by Alps have drifting issues exceedingly often. Just look at the modern DualShock 4, DualSense and Xbox Series controllers

Nice video. I’ve never seen that model of controller with solderless analog sticks before. I guess the idea never caught on
@titanrepairs9 ай бұрын
Yeah. It was a surprise to me too. I've never seen it before. I wonder if they didn't keep up with it because it cost more to manufacture. Or maybe they did this as a test for future designs and it didn't pan out.

Model of my controller is CECHZC2E (black color and It was came with the PS3 slim console) and it's sticks are solderless.
@duncanmacl3od3 ай бұрын
Looks like the A2 revision, what does it say on the back? Inside it looks just like the one that came with my superslim, they aren't as good as older controllers which had the "hall effect", but these seem easier to put back together.
@titanrepairs3 ай бұрын
Oh God I don't remember. I usually say the model in the intro. Yeah this one wasn't bad. Definitely towards the end due to the simplicity in its construction to save cost.

why the heck did they stop making em like this. so much easier to fepair!!!!!
@Half_of_The_World2 ай бұрын
They stopped making them like this because they're easier to repair, they don't want you to fix your controller with an affordable component when it breaks, they want you to buy a new controller at their ridiculous prices

Been watching a lot of video’s on PS3 controllers lately. Been looking at trying to find new OEM controllers or used OEM and fixing them up. This Motherboard looks quite a bit different than the other’s I’ve seen… Is this an OEM controller? And if so why does MOBO look so different?
@titanrepairs5 ай бұрын
Yeah. It is an OEM controller. Through the generation there were quite a few revisions. Some minor and some more major. This video is a bit older so if I remember right this is a later revision (maybe the last revision?). I think it was the A2 version.

Does it feel the same as the original or should I get a pair?

I didn't notice any difference personally.

Is it possible to replace the analog stick of a DS3 to a DS4 or DS5? The stick of the DS3 is really uncomfortable.
@titanrepairs3 ай бұрын
I've seen it done but you have to be careful what sticks you buy. I've bought sticks advertised for a DS3 and didn't work for it lol. But sorry I don't have any personal experience in this to point you in the right direction ☹️
