Awesome videos... Very interesting results by light switch, excellent work....I cant wait to see the final results...keep an eye on the tools..... My pops was working inside a customers home when a truck rolled up scoping out his tools in the truck.... Just then the next door neighbors saw and alerted everyone scaring the thieves away..... Great material.... To be continued..... 🍻 Riv Ca

S Terry, what about the part where he lies to the customer, while documenting it on video, about finishing on time when in reality it will take him one more week? From being in this line of business, I know for a fact that most contractors lie to customers about a timely finish when it's not true. You're right about what you mention, it's just this part that bothers me because it gets under my skin to hear contractors lie all the time.

Was browsing KZbin watching a variety of trim carpentry vids. You do good work. I am also a high-end trim carpenter working in multi million dollar homes. Took note of your comment regarding the thickness difference of boards from different suppliers. From my experience this is caused by the miller making the boards themselves; different production batches and milling machines. You are using pre-primed boards which can also cause thickness differences. We always run our boards through an onsite planer. This eliminates the need to thoroughly examine each board when purchasing. Bosch makes an excellent onsite planer. I'm sure you already know this though. Gotta love the cordless guns... Senco is my preference for finish guns. I run the 60 volt flex dewalt saw only because I can use the same battery in my other dewalt cordless tools, power planer, sanders, vacuums, etc.

Hello Richard. I love your videos, you guys do a great job and the easy to follow instructions and advices you give are wonderful. I'm from Macedonia, Europe and there are almost none trim work professionals here. I like the looks of trim, so I installed some MDF base boards in my apartment by myself. I learned the coping technique (without a coping saw since I cannot find such a tool here or in the neighbouring countries) and the return cut. I'm interested in the job you perform so if you can please point me to some stuff: - what is 'by' thickness material?, - what product do you use to caulk the reveal on the door casing in this video before you do the paint job, - what product/putty do you use to cover the nails in MDF, - when pocket screwing MDF, do you use the coarse or fine thread kreg screws. There are no pros in this trade in my country, so noone to ask here. The jobs I've seen here using painted MDF in furniture making are not that durable since the pain cracks at the joints over time. Thanks.

The casing you selected is exactly what I was trying to find before I began replacing/upgrading the woodwork in my home. @jamespierce29396 жыл бұрын
One recommendation is when using bare wood you need to paint or stain all sides. This is for keeping your good job looking great for years to come. The theory behind this is that any exposed wood will continue to absorb moister. So with one side coated and other side bare this will cause the board to warp over time. Which will lead to joints pulling apart over time.

Is your helper on a wanted poster? Why the old west bank robber look? Overall, love the videos. Nice work. Its refreshing to see a younger tradesman take pride in his work. Two camera related suggestions - try to get a camera that has less distortion. I know this house had some issues, but all of the doorways appeared to have significant barrel distortion. That is common on wide-angle lenses, especially on action cameras. Also, consider bringing in some LED light panels. It will give you the ability to really get light where you need it.
