Some alternative points to reduce pad damage risk: Instead of having the resistor directly on those pads, try on the Pico instead, as the Pico is slightly more disposable if a pad gets pulled: Pico Pin11 (blue wire) to Pico Pin36 (3.3v) via 10k resistor. (Or just alternatively put long thin wires off the resistor.) The ground wire bridge to the other 'lone' wire that connects to pin 27 on the Pico - again, to minimise risk, just bridge Pico pin 27 to pin 28 as thats a ground pin.

Very cool that you figured this out. I modded several 360s last year I think it was, started out with PicoFlasher but after the first one or two began to run into problems and ended up getting the xFlasher 360. I actually only even attempted RGH because I saw you could do it with a Pico, and I had just done several other Pico/RP2040 projects like PicoBoot on the GameCube and building Flatbox and Open-Frame1 controllers with them. Now that I *have* the xFlasher I would probably just use it again because it's custom-tailored to the job and I already have it and it worked well on every motherboard and NAND size I came across, but I guess if a friend I knew was getting into this stuff I'd feel better recommending PicoFlasher again now. While this video covers issue #14 on the PicoFlasher repo, I still wonder about #4 and #12 where the Pico seems to stop working not long after being flashed with PicoFlasher. It doesn't seem like anyone got to the bottom of that, instead trying to blame it on bad hardware despite people reporting they were bought reputable places and still worked with other firmwares on the same Picos. I had kinda given up hope on PicoFlasher becoming usable since there hadn't been commits to the repo in ages and a bunch of issues were seemingly being ignored.
@MrMario20115 ай бұрын
xFlasher in my opinion is definitely the way to go, but I know many people will prefer PicoFlasher for different reasons. Even with problems it might have, it's hard to beat a $4 board and a free firmware!

I performed RGH3 on my Corona 4GB model (with hynix emmc) a month ago. First issue was that i couldn't get the PLL point to stick to the wire, as I ripped the copper ring around the via and was stuck with soldering to the via itself. But after that sort of worked I attepmted reading the nand and got the console not found error. It turned out that to fix it I had to (not sure if all steps are necessary, but that fixed it for me): 1. Unplug the Pico from the laptop 2. Unplug the Xbox from the power supply 3. Unplug the charger from the laptop (so that it only runs on battery and isn't grounded to my electrical system) 4. Plug the Xbox power supply direcly to a wall socket instead of an extension cord 5. Plug the Xbox into power 6. Plug the Pico to the laptop Then, after reopening JRunner (and also trying 3 different USB ports) it got a good read and succeeded in the rest of the process! 1 small issue was not being able to boot into XeLL, but that was solved by actually not forgetting to tick the "RGH3" checkbox 😅 Thanks for your amazing tutorial! All other tutorials that I've seen online were really hard to follow and didn't mention some very important things that only you said in your video. By the way, does XeLL also freeze for you on configuring network if using XellLaunch while connected over ethernet on a Corona board? Also, I wanted to mention that I actually had a few Picos around, as I'm into electronics and these are the best microcontroller that I've worked with! Another thing is that I unfortunately had to install Windows on an old laptop just to run JRunner, as I'm a Linux power user. I wish someone maybe someday makes a Linux port... Shouldn't be had, as JRunner is written in C# IIRC, and you can run most .NET Framework programs via Mono on Linux.

Thanks for sharing! A testament of your patience and troubleshooting abilities right there! Those readers could be so problematic, so I sympathize. XeLL has worked fine on my Corona for me, no freezing! Finally, yes! It's a wonderful microcontroller, makes me happy to see others verifying that!

I feel you on having to use another machine with Windows because you usually use Linux. I had to keep walking between my soldering area downstairs and a spot in my kitchen where we had an old Windows PC to do all the software stuff. None of my personal machines had Windows. Then to make matters worse that PC was an all-in-one so I couldn't take advantage of a monitor already being in that spot and had to walk the 360 over to a third spot to hook it up to a display for booting XeLL, and I didn't have ethernet run over to that area so I had to manually type my CPU key in back at the computer from a picture I took on my phone. Then add to that the fact that sometimes it doesn't work and you gotta go retouch your wires and walk all around again carefully holding the 360 with the precarious wires, lol. If I ever mod some more 360s I'll probably try to get everything I need in one spot to make it easier next time.

So this one is giving me some trouble on my white Xbox 360 Slim. At first, I was getting the no console found issue. I did what you mentioned on here and it resolved that issue at least. Problem is, I don't think the Nand was dumped correctly or something, because when I wrote Xell, the Xbox would just power on, but it wouldn't boot into Xell and the LED ring never spun. It just remained a solid green light at the center with no signs of activity. I made sure to double check all my solder points and redid them all. I even readjusted the postfix adapter to make sure it was making proper contact. I still haven't ruled it out for being faulty but I don't have another one at the moment to test. I also made sure to re-enable R/W for the NAND. I'm pretty stumped. I also ended up pulling Pad 1 but I was able to use the trace that connects to that pad. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Awesome and detailed video. Finally managed to get rid of the dreaded console not found issue with this fix. However i need some advice. Out of 30 read attempts, i managed to dump the nand once, the second read was not the same and comparison failed. I saved that "successful" dump and continued again. After about 30 minutes of doing other things in between a few read attempts, i got another good read of one dump and second failed after reading for maybe 15 seconds. I compared this to the first successful read and they both are identical. So 2 questions: Do i go with this and create a xell image and hope that they are in fact perfect dumps? If reading 2 identical dumps was so hard, could writing the xell image possibly also have issues? FWIW my soldering is super neat ( I do electronics repairs eg, console hdmi ports and retimer ic's ), using Picoflasher, white slim corona v3 with 4gb nand. Wires used for Pico to corona is probably about 20cm long, so not sure if thats an issue. Tested, re-tested pins and wiring, and also de- and re-soldered wiring. Also, when the reads fail, if i immediately try again, J-runner gives an error saying "Cant, picoflasher firmware out of date". If i unplug the pico then plug back in it reads console, and i can read nand again. Sometimes the nand reads for 3 seconds and fails, sometimes it reads for 25 seconds and fails. Its ALWAYS random. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And, i followed your RGH 3 tutorial to get the correct J-Runner as well as Pico firmware Thanks again
@MrMario20113 ай бұрын
To answer your two questions: 1. If I was having that many issues getting a proper dump, I'd hesitate to continue on with the current configuration. Unfortunately it might be best to verify you can get a proper NAND dump with another seasoned programmer such as the xFlasher, PicoFlasher can be hit or miss. 2. Yes.

is that 26awg single layer cable?
@MrMario20115 ай бұрын
The NAND wires are 26awg and stranded, the smaller jumper wire I install is 30awg kynar

almost given up... i have wanted to rgh3 my xbox 360s for awhile now, so i followed the rgh tut and first chip i got was jr programmer... and that did not work at all, so i got a rpi pico and flashed it with pico flasher and then did the wiring for the pico and then i ripped one of the solder pads on the mb' to the yellow wire off, but scratched off the trace and soldered the wire to it and that worked it detected it and read it, but it was saying (pico flasher has encountered an error). so i tried brand new wires and... than it worked worse now it said (console not found). so then this video came up than i followed it perfectly, but it did the exact same (console not found) thing. Ive also used a bunch of micro usb cables. so now i am at loss, and don't' really now what to do.. or how to fix it....... any help would be great.. im just thinking of buying and new xbox 360s and see if that fixes anything..

Could try another console, but also maybe another older PC if that would help with the programmers?

first time modding a console here, Corona V6 4GB (hynix emmc) I bought a spool of 30AWG solid core colored red. Looking at the Pico diagram theres multiple colored wires so im wondering if using this 30AWG is safe for this? or is it just different colored insulation and im just overthinking?

Purely aesthetic, not functional.

hello ! unfortunately, I wanted to report to my colleagues that my ksb burned out, unfortunately from what I understand, I need to undo the soldering to turn on the console and extract the cpu key from the xell, tomorrow I'll change the Ksb and continue and I'll be back to tell my colleagues more. By the way, here in Brazil Rgh is fashionable, everyone is still looking for it.

Would this work on the 16MB version? otherwise, i will just be using the xflasher instead

There's no need for this fix on 16 MB consoles.

I was able to detect the nand however no it it freezes jrunner and after a few minutes it times out. Soldering seems fine. Anyone run into this?

I saw someone else comment and run into this. You could try another USB cable, port, or even PC?

PicoFlasher does not like interference. Reboot your PC, ONLY run J-Runner, then dump the NAND and don't touch anything until its done.

How can you tell if your Pico is bootleg?
@Moneyspider6918 күн бұрын
@mikepower9944 If you can't see the pico picture on the chip clear and compare it to a fake one, it's hard to see, but a real one, you can see the Berry one the chip

Honestly I gave up on picoflashers. Spent like 4 hours trying to make it work before ordering an xflasher. People were saying to try another pico, but my pico even failed at flashing a trinity.
@MrMario20115 ай бұрын
It's worth a try at least due to the cost point, however the xFlasher is still the best device out there.

Just attempted this, no luck unfortunately. I'm quite confident in my soldering skills so know that's unlikely to be the cause. JRunner went from "Console Not Found" to "Corona: 4GB (eMMC connected) PicoFlasher has encountered an error. Try to unplug and replug the device System.TimeoutException". Can't get past this now haha, just displays this error message then freezes the application until I unplug the Picoflasher from my PC. Plz help me
