Great video as always! Just curious - when will you be uploading your video on the aston front and back lights?
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
I've been absurdly busy lately, on top of dealing with the side effects of the covid vaccine, so I haven't been able to do anything with that yet. I have a partial video from a while back that I might use to make a "part one" though - I might be able to get that up next week.

Did you need to upgrade the stock pump for the supercharger? My fuel pump is having issues and I'd like to upgrade to a higher flow aftermarket unit prior to my super charger install if it's needed.

Very interesting and I’m glad you got to the root of the fueling issue! Are you planning to dyno the car in Texas so that you have apples to apples numbers for comparison to the centrifugal setup?
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
I won't be able to manage the logistics for that because of all the stuff I'm juggling right now, but I will be doing back-to-back runs against an unmodified 4.3L V8V to get a direct comparison. Part of the issue with the comparison with the other supercharged V8V down in Texas is that I'm stuck with 91-octane here in Idaho rather than the 93 I had in Texas and the east coast, plus I'm now at a much higher elevation. Having said that, we did get enough data to have a good idea of where things land between our two cars and I'll talk about that when I can finally get a good dyno session in :D

Dyno! Dyno! Dyno! We don't care if the actual hp is 530 vs 580, we care about how the car is taking its adamantium infusion! How well the stock internals are holding up, how the fueling is holding up, how many (hopefully zero) warning lights now live on your dash, how tunable is the ECU, what AF is the stock ECU able to hold? You get the idea. :)

Everything is pretty conservative so no issues there, but the last month has been pretty stupid busy/hectic/horrible so I'm just trying to keep my head on straight and might not have a chance to do much before moving on to a new stage of the build lol

I sold it a couple years ago. I do miss that car but many of the plans I had for it could be done on my grey V8V, and selling it freed up a bunch of funds for other projects. I'll definitely be in the UK as soon as I can - I had a few cancelled trips over the last year but I'm hoping I can get there for the big AMHT event in June!

Great video Is rough idle for a min on cold start up a sign of fuel system or pcv issues? Or normal?
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
It can be from the fuel system - it did affect my car in the same way. Basically, by not being able to get the right amount of fuel pressure, the engine isn't getting enough fuel, so it won't run well. So yeah, it can be your fuel system. But, it can also be a few other things, like the spark plugs or coil packs needing to be replaced, or a problem with idle control or cam position sensor, or even something as simple as a vacuum leak or bad gas. The last one is very easy to check - just hook up a smoke machine to see where any leaks might be, or, use a can of spray (like "starter fluid spray") and spray it on different vacuum lines and hoses. If you hear the engine idle change when a place is sprayed, it means that place has a vacuum leak.

Kind of a random question, but does the automatic seat controls allow for the seat to be lifted up/down? Or is it just forward and backward movements only?
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
It has up and down on the driver side. Passenger side is more limited (no idea why). Not sure if that changed at some point.
@deep6thisdeep6this923 жыл бұрын
on my 2007 the electric controls on the driver's seat will raise it (lift up from the bottom of the lever, i think) but as it reaches its upward limit it tilts the whole seat forward, in effect making the front of the bottom of the seat go back down a bit. kind'a wonky. sooooo ...a qualified yes. to get the seat as high as i wanted it i inserted about 18" of 1 1/8" square tubing (oxymoron?) under the rails of the driver's seat.

Hi! I got a 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage and I’m in the Tampa Bay Area and was wondering if you know of a good Aston Martin shop that can work on my car that has techs that know these cars and do quality work? Thanks

Great video as always, My V8V has also starting issues, but only when it's warm, it's not always starting on the first try, so I try again and when it starts the rpm are like 600 for a few seconds before going like it should, I replaced the 2 upstream o2 sensor (Had the check emission default code on, now it's gone) battery, spark plugs and coil packs (the car was running bad, missfire and loss of power) now it works fine, but always these issues of starting when it's warm up.. Do you have any idea ? thank you ! :)
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
Quick diagnosis is to check the fuel pressure with the engine off and watch what the fuel pressure does during startup, while the engine idles, and when the engine is turned off. If the fuel pressure isn't getting high enough quickly enough during and following startup, or drops off quickly when the engine is turned off, you've got a fueling issue like I had.
@MaximePain3 жыл бұрын
@@Redpantslol Ok like you said in the video, I will check that, thank you again !

i'm currently experiencing the exact same symptoms. i also get a heavy fuel scent from the car and a slight misfire once the engine starts that seems to clear up in a few seconds. i'm currently tracking it down and suspect a leaking fuel injector. i'll report back once i have an answer.

I think your problem is the lack of shielding from headers to starter. Fuel issues will always throw codes on all AM’s You be replacing that starter again if you leave it un shielded.my2c
@Redpantslol3 жыл бұрын
The problem was inside the fuel tank, had nothing to do with the headers.
@metparker3 жыл бұрын
You need a heat shield on the manifold. Stop frying your starter.
