To clarify, I bought the car 10.5 years ago when it had ~21k miles on it, so I've owned it that long and added ~75k miles. That's why I mention having it for 10 years even though it's 14 years old, and that it's got nearly 100k miles when I've done 75k in it. It... It made sense in my head. I also realized I left at least one thing off the list immediately after this finished uploading, so there will be at least that much more info on the dedicated web page about my car's reliability once I finish and publish it.

Good luck from UK sorting your private issues :) Always fancied a Vantage - nearly got tempted when prices for low mileage ones fell to £29k....always got nervous of a major failure being unaffordable to me to fix... Bought a TVR Griffith 43 pre-cat which I have always been in love with, however my personal issues have left it in the barn for a decade and a half... Hey, ho....

Good Video. My Vantage fuel cap broke twice. If you are not careful when taking it out of the holder hole in the filler flap it will break and the valve ad spring will wind up in the tank. You can use the guts from a LandRover filler cap ($35) to fix it.

Man, I love your personality 😂 I’m also the same kinda lonely driver that always has my window down even when it’s bad weather 😂 I just kinda feel less lonely if I do that. I feel you man, I feel you…. I’m working to get myself a dream Aston like yours. Your video is pretty damn informative and fun to watch. Keep it up

Thanks for giving us heads up, I have a 2004 S class and don’t have issues with Headliner - door module - Fuel gauge - starter - loose battery cable - Shifter cable - fuel cover alignment - windshield washer reservoir - Interiors door panel… My friend you’re tormented, I feel your pain All you needed to do was to make a very short clip telling public I never had any issues with these few items Lol, sorry I’m not laughing but rather crying

Besides the obvious knowledge of the vehicle, the history with it is really appealing. An INFP Personality type and this is deep, long, personal history with the vehicle is really cool. Will be purchasing a 2012 Vantage S or newer with less than 15,000 miles in the near future. Seeing the video of the crash…. Would have literally cried. Desire this Vantage to be as track capable as yours, but to drive like a Rolls Royce also. Finding the happy medium will be a long, and expensive process, but one that will be enjoyed. P.S. If mine ever sees a track, it will be a track that’s completely open, with no tires.

I'm amazed what some people will put up with in owning a certain car. It's nice we get to choose but there does exist a certain group of autos that consistently fall apart while there also exists other fantastic cars that you can drive for 100,000 miles just by doing the recommended maintenance. Having to repair parts that should never, ever break just isn't my cup of tea.
@Redpantslol Жыл бұрын
I drove this car extensively for my first decade of ownership and had extremely few problems. It wasn't until the last two years, when the car's mostly been in storage and I'm just now getting it back on the road, that it's having problems. Regular use of the car and routine maintenance prevents most issues. It's the garage queens that suffer.

I had driver side window glass slip...just need to remove door panel, re-align glass and tighten the screw that holds the glass to the window lift mechanism. Front timing cover seal leaks...about a drip per week. No other issues so far, but its a 2007 with only 5k on it. Lots of things to break still HA!

I did have the loose retention screw in one of my windows but I chalked it up to damage (it was the same side as the tire wall damage). I'll make a note on the accompanying webpage just in case!

Always interesting videos. I’ve learned how to fix a few things on my 2015 Vantage GT, like the tail light condensation. From your experience, is there much difference in reliability issues between a 2007 and 2015 model? Thank you for your service in the Marines!
@Redpantslol2 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, many of the issues found on earlier cars were rectified over the years, so, generally, the newer the car the more reliable it will be. That said, there were some cost-cutting measures to make Aston Martin Lagonda (the company) more attractive to buyers, so Ford did make some changes that reduced reliability. The main one that I always think about is the engine - the 4.7L uses some cheaper components and isn't nearly as reliable as the 4.3L engine.

I will when everything is done but we still have a few parts on the way so I don't know how soon it'll be, and I'll be traveling a bit during the next couple months, and racing the clock for everything before I move overseas... it's been absolutely chaotic lol, but yes, I'm definitely planning it.

the beginning of the video might have explained the squeaky brakes with mine lol, just picked up my 19' Vantage in December, I know two different gens, but I was wondering if it was normal for the brakes to be squeaky as hell sometimes, ill have to check out your brake video next
@Redpantslol2 жыл бұрын
Check out the pads I sell on Redpants. The compound and the way I spec them eliminates brake squeal, has less dust, and makes the pads less "grabby" (a complaint I've heard from a number of New Vantage owners). Shoot me an email if you have any other questions about them
@robrandtoul2 жыл бұрын
I have same car as you. The OEM pads squeal like hell. I switched to Porterfield pads and that helped a bit. I also changed my driving style to rely more heavily on the brakes (braking later etc). Gently riding the brakes all the time (in traffic for example) glazes the pads and causes squealing. Took an extraordinary effort to re-educate myself and break old habits but since relying more heavily on the brakes my squeal has completely disappeared.

I actually have a video in the works right now (um, a few videos) about how many problems my car developed while in storage/transport. Personally, I'm not a fan of garage queens and older cars with low miles is a huge red flag for me, particularly with a V8 Vantage.

Have no desire to have this level of knowledge of the vehicle. The desire is to enjoy the vehicle, especially with the wife, and occasionally a close friend. Have to find the balance there personally, and not mechanically inclined, nor is there a desire to be at this age in life.
