Haven’t commented in awhile, but felt compelled to this time. Hang in there, don’t get discouraged, and know that we’re all rooting for you. One of the many draws to your channel is that it is REAL LIFE. Things don’t always go as planned in the garage, and we ALL can relate to that! Don’t worry, we still love the content you put out, even when your progress doesn’t measure up to where you would like it to be. ❤️

Since I am catching up on these long after they were posted, I know where things end up, but being there at the time I can literally feel your pain, but that’s what makes yours the best channel out there. Maybe a small gasket. Not for sealing everything from the heads to the tail pipe. When I bought the car I knew it had an exhaust leak but when I got under it at a shop I was very surprised at how big the leak was LOL. Nothing was sealed and there was red rtv all over the place.

Sarah... I've been working on cars for about 35 years & I have to say: you are a very good technician; you are smart & very resourceful... As frustrating as they may seem, all those difficulties are giving you enormous amounts of experience and future "know how". (Take good notes/logs). Just imagine what you can do later with a lift and more space. On my many projects throughout the years there are always times where I curse a lot and parts fly, and I curse even more at the engineers who design stupid parts not really thinking on us - the techs - I'm rooting for you 100%!! Keep up the good work! You are awesome! M

I hear your pain and frustration. My daily driver has been on jackstands in my driveway for three months now. It all started as a clutch replacement, but then I broke a bolt that was easy order/replace, but in attempting to extract a second broken bolt, I cracked the boss in my transmission housing. In the middle of all of this, I had to be out of town for over a month for a family emergency, and had to RENT A DARN CAR the whole time. The money I spent on a rental, I could have easily paid a shop to do the work! So frustrating! Anyway, I feel your pain. Usually a little time and rest make a huge difference on the progress of the project. Sometimes, your subconscious comes up with solutions your frustrated and tired mind weren't seeing.

Cheer up lil' scrapper, frustration and busted knuckles are what working on machinery is all about. Just don't take it out on the machine. Half a century ago I was replacing a belt on my '66 Mustang convertible when the wrench slipped and I gashed my knuckles on the bracket, in a peak of frustration I threw the wrench onto the engine compartment and cracked the distributor cap. I looked at it for a moment and then thought "Great! Now I've something else to fix". - Somewhere there is a group of engineers laughing saying "they're never going to get this one".

That totally sucks, Sara, but I definitely understand that sort of frustration. In a former life as a Honda mechanic I got a job to replace the head gasket on an Integra. We didn't sell Acuras at this dealer, but it was a Honda product so plenty of similarities other than being DOHC (Honda had not yet brought any DOHC engines to their US cars yet). It took me a few hours to do the head gasket, but once I got everything together, the car would not start no matter what I tried. I spent all day on that car that only paid me 3 or 4 hours labor. I finally went home, frustrated, but on the drive home I realized that I didn't pay any attention to which camshaft went where. They are physically identical other than the cam lobes, so easy to confuse them. I got back to work the next day and immediately swapped the cams and the car started right up.

You can cut your bolts to length. Thread a nut on all the way before cutting. Then once the bolt is cut, add a little oil and back the nut all the way off the bolt to restraighten the threads. Your doing great. The heat and the frustrations with the car tends to take a toll on a persons emotions.

G'day, Sarah! I appreciated your honesty! Hang in there, don’t get discouraged, I too do understand the frustration of working on automobiles! But, kindly don't be so hard on yourself!! Also, did you know, my Dad is a Civil War buff. "Many years ago I had this crazy idea, about writing a novel about the Civil War, but then suddenly it was all gone with the wind." Lol! 🤣 By the way... You know, the common phrase, "Take things one day at a time", comes up. When I was having a particularly rough time dealing with my mum's Surgery, people would say, "Just take it one day at a time, it will get easier." The truth is, their advice was solid. I just don't know if most of us giving those words of encouragement really know how to do it ourselves. Living one day at a time can be looked at as risky, never planning for the future, and only living in the now. That's not what I think this advice means. I think it means focusing on what you can do right now to further yourself along. Then little by little, the step by step, you take add up to a full road trip, and you look back, and can see how far you've come. Cheers! 😋✌🏼😊🛠💕

When I swapped a Ford 8.8 IRS into my Mazda RX7 I dealt with a lot of the same issues. Now just roll under the car and go over the process of how you're going to attack it next. Think it through. Get whatever tools that will make it easier to accomplish like extra hydraulic jack or even a Harbor Freight transmission jack (which saved my beans a few times) You're doing great! Seriously!

Also Sarah as important as a balanced driveshaft is I doubt you will feel or hear an effect with the carrier bearings CV's and phoebe bushing thing. If it was a truck or a car with no carrier bearing from the driveshaft to the diff it would be more of a noticeable problem but in your case you should be fine because it is a short distance between the bearing and either end.

HANG IN THERE!!! I had to change a head gasket on a '95 S420 Mercedes and found that the only way to get the power steering pump off was to get 24" of extensions on the final bolt and approach from the back of the engine! Took me WAAAAY too long to do it, but in the end the car was silky smooth and loved to run fast on open road. Hang in there Sarah: two suggestions, when working on Audi's try to review a manual first. Just in case.....Audi's are not intuitive in how they come apart or go back together. Also, when working with bearings get some wheel bearing grease and pack the bearing surface with it, then place the ball bearings in the grease to hold them there while you position the item. Regarding the jack stands: I noticed in one of your videos that you had a pair of stands with bolts going through the support portion of the stand (that is a great safety feature) I would do that to all your smaller stands shown in this video. IE, there is no way the stand arm can collapse into the stand and let the car come down. !!! By the way....., you didn't fail! "No man is a failure who has friends"... you have a-lot of friends Sarah.

Still catching up on your videos. I *SO* feel your pain. Doing this driveshaft job on my 02 225 car was the biggest nightmare. I'm sure you have solved by now but...the way I found worked "best" was to assemble the driveshaft outside the car, slide the front in without the big rubber isolator which allows it to go further forward, then put the rear on, drop the center to gain room to put the front rubber back on. I also used the wrong hardware in the wrong place and had the same bolts hitting transfer case issue. I did this job on the original clutch job, and again when the center bushing went bad. :|

I understand your frustration. I've been there myself. That's why I don't like to work on my main transportation car. Many times I have been so covered in grease that I didn't realize I had cut myself until I washed up.

It sucks when things don’t go to plan and you feel like you’ve moved one step forward only to go back two. My project cars are all trash but just like you I just keep going back to them and do what I can as and when possible. You’re doing a great job Sarah, both on the cars and the videos. Don’t over do it, we all need some down time. Still loving your channel. Sending love from sunny Mansfield in the UK.

your patience is incredible first of all ,would it help if u unbolt rear diff or maybe just loosen it up and pry it back with a pry bar or something, and remove the rubber joint and put it on the rear first . or unbolt the carrier bearing and let the middle of the shaft hang down and put back end up first . and remember when things don't work is when u learn the most. we all have faith in u

I bent every crow bar, every breaker bar, broke my Craftsman 1/2" ratchet trying to get the rear nut off the brake drum of my 1958 VW Bug (Li'l Blue Dune Buggy). I had made a bar to push against out of 1/4" x 4" flat bar that was about 32" long and would bolt up to the lug nuts. I heated and soaked that nut with Parts Breaker several times, put a punch divot on each of the 6 sides used a 350 Foot pounds rattle gun on it... still not even a little budge. I went and got a 3/4" drive Breaker Bar, and a new hardened socket. I put a 7 foot pipe on the breaker bar and all it would do is pick up the whole back end of Little Blue. I Turned it 180 and the pipe bent! Then I found a thicker 10 foot pipe, and with all of my might... I gave it everything I had... and SNAP! The #$%&% Nut broke loose! At least I had this figured out for the other side and it worked the same way. That was 3 years ago, and last week I found a tool that bolts to the lug nuts as a torque multiplier… I think I would have broke that tiny little thing, but it will work the next time it has to come apart! As this is now 8 months later that I see this video I am sure you have it together by now, but you are not alone in the struggle... many of us struggle right along with you. So keep up the good work Lady! POS cars are some of my favorites, yet help me appreciate my new little Focus that I don't work on at all. Even as Needy as The Little Blue Dune Buggy is... I love that thing, I'm gonna make it do Wheelies!! Maybe a 1775 coming this Summer. I just had a thought!!! I could do up the hood and paint it like Corvette Summer style! that would be F#^$*&^g SICK!

Hey just watching this episode where you Change the prop shaft. Or you call it the drive shaft either I joints. Anyway I did engine work on a R32 golf. Around 6 months later the guibo joint bolts came loose on me. Don’t forget to use loctite on your bolts.

Keep your chin up mate 😊 I’ve got a TT exactly the same. Problem is mine (Lola) is like that lover you’re obsessed with who treats you bad: you know she’s wrong with you but you keep going back for more 😉 great videos, big thumbs up from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 X

I feel ya. It totally sucks when you work so hard for what seems like nothing. It'll workout eventually. Sometimes you just have to walk away from it all to get a fresh perspective on it. Take care of yourself first.

Dude, fear not. My Miata sat for a month because I got the contacts on my MAF wet and it ruined them. Then I had to find a MAF I could afford (which of course was for the wrong year). That done now my start up idle sits at almost 2k before the car warms up. FML, I feel your pain.

It adds to the exasperation level when you have to crawl around under the car. It's tight and hard to get leverage on anything. Wish I had some profound advice but all my driveshaft experience is on old school rear drive one piece shafts.
