Follow along as I try to make the licensed Toyota Xtra Cab body from RC4WD into something that looks like an actual Toyota. This particular build is for my friend Mike of ‪@MikesRCWorld‬ as a replica of his mini monster truck.
Part 1: Cutting Xtra Cab off and discarding, correcting A pillar, fixing front fender...shelves(?) and much more.

@turksandjerps
@turksandjerps 10 ай бұрын
I like to use Japanese dovetail or pull saws. You can also use a razor saw more geared towards hobbyists. The glue is a solvent such as acetone or MEK, it melts the plastic together to form the bond.
@huslnumotorsports8101
@huslnumotorsports8101 10 ай бұрын
@@turksandjerps thank you for the reply I really appreciate it! So you only use the chemical to bond the plastic together correct? No glue or adhesive in between pieces? Thank you again
@turksandjerps
@turksandjerps 10 ай бұрын
@@huslnumotorsports8101 Correct, if its polystyrene or ABS it just needs a solvent to bond. It'll be stronger than glue, like a weld.

@scalecoastheroes
@scalecoastheroes 5 ай бұрын
@@turksandjerps thanks for responding! :-) I’m trying to find out what parts of the pieces you modified to get it to fit properly. My first attempt went bad lol It looked like you were cutting that little overlap piece on the hood between the guides where it interferes at the cowl plate. Or did you extends the overlap portion by cutting back into the hood horizontally. It would make much more sense if I could draw it :-/
@turksandjerps
@turksandjerps 5 ай бұрын
So what I did was shortened the hood a few mm to line back up with the fenders. Since the front end was pinched it made the hood appear long. You can see inscribed a line and removed all that. Then I had to notch out the firewall/bulkhead/whatever to accept the hood “hinge” again.
