1989 Chevrolet P30, 350 gas turbo 475 trans, soon to be LS 6.0 6l80 trans swapped. I rebuilt an early 70's 350 from a C30 about 9 years ago. Rebuilt the rear leaf springs to handle more weight. added a few more leaves and new bushings and GM coil spiring over shocks front and rear. best improvement was adding a rear camera with a big screen from an old tablet up front. I have an aluminum car trailer, but most of the time I use a tow dolly I improved upon. I have two winches one on the tow dolly and also one mounted behind the rear bumper of the step-van. I have a generator, air compressor and a 110v welder. in the back of the step-van and a big vice mounted on the rear bumper. It also has a work bench and bunk that folds down on the inside side wall. I did mobile repair years ago with a service truck, now I just work on my own crap when can. If someone calls looking for help, this truck is always broke down itself.

Cam position sensor on my 5.7 tundra. I know gas things. But I was instructed to change oil. I did that 3 times at less than 3k miles all 3 times. On the 4th change I got past 3k. Changed again. Now I change at 6k have for over 100k miles and no codes since. Runs like a champ. It was my tow vehicle. I currently have a 2022 gmc with 3L duramax. Getting 28mpg normal driving and 16 when pulling. Same stats as my tundra HP and Torque. Love this new truck. Still have the tundra as my beater 270k on that. Plan to keep it until it completely Rusts into a pile. Fuel tank is held on with ratchet straps currently…

Good video. Your honesty draws viewers like a magnet. I tow a 14' utility trailer which carries a dune buggy. My tow vehicle is a 2019 Honda Pilot which is rated for 3500 pounds. Although my loaded trailer falls about 400 pounds under the limit, I had to install a trans oil cooler to keep the tranny from overheating in hot weather. The Hayden trans oil cooler works well. I'll use them on all future tow vehicles.

Had a 4wd '16 Ram 3500 Cummins/6spd crewcab as my tow rig/daily driver...absolutely loved the truck, hated the price tag. Sold it after 4 years and went back to an '84 K30 CUCV with a 6.5 turbo swap and a 4L80E swap for less than 1/10th the cost with the same fuel mileage. Never looked back! Definitely a slower rig, but reliable and cool AF! Just can't beat a squarebody!

Oh no...you got the rear axle problem too. Its a good thing you caught it. Most Dodges made in DaimlerChrysler era all launch the pinion seals after some miles, most people dont notice and destroy the entire axle. It was a problem in the older ones but not as bad. A buddy of mine has a 03? with Indiana cancer, the 20 inch flower rims,Hemi with a tick,190k miles and a grenaded rear end. Used rear end is 1200 so its a yard ornament. His problem was the bearing spun the race and wallowed the housing out. Keep an eye on your Dodge rear ends everybody..

Glad it’s running again! Noticed you hacked it by not disconnecting battery, drove it and it straightened out. Quick story, changed mass flow on 2011 pilot, 150 miles later, dash looked like a Christmas tree, swapped back to cleaned original sensor, 150 miles, Christmas again. Got home, scratched my head, disconnected battery, waited bout an hour, hooked up battery, now have bout 2,000 on it, perfect! Know anyone who wants to buy a gently used mass flow sensor? Guess it defaulted codes to original settings after disconnecting battery. Might save you the heartache of replacing that sensor again, although Wes may do it for you, eh? Good video!

It's the small stuff that can be a pain, I have a 02 GMC 2500hd diesel tow rig. Intermittent ABS brake light on dash, would come and go, had to pull the top off ABS module to access circuit board. Cut the thing open and resolder all the main connections on the board and reseal. It was tucked up nicely in the frame rail, for not so easy access, flat on the back job.

I can't imagine that the cam/crank sensors are much different between gas and diesel engines. I dealt with a Jeep Liberty with the V6 trying to clear those exact codes. Went through 3 sets from 2 different parts houses, 2 different brands. All were junk. Ended up spending 2x the money, and bought from the dealer. Ran like a champ after that.

What a great truck. The manual is definitely the way to go in the Mopar truck. Watching this I realize changing the CPS on my 7.3 is way easier. However since 2002 Ford/NAVSTAR has had three iterations on the CPS and they can be a little picky as to which one runs best. Can’t buy the original (arguably best) CPS new. For most other repairs the Cummins is friendlier to work on.

Based on the number of that gen 2500/3500 diesel Rams I towed in to dealers in 07-08 or so...and knowing that the rear axle was the primary failure point for all those oilfield guys and their welding equipment on the beds...and why they came out with 4500 and 5500 models soon after...I'd keep an eye on that rear end for sure.

We used a short box square body Chevy 4x4 with a lift and monster mudders on it to haul a giganormous car hauler with a big tool box and a tire rack. One time on the way to the track I seen it passing on the shoulder. That old trailer did its job and the brakes kicked on - stopped it on the shoulder. It snapped the drop hitch off.

@@moremortskerepair4354 Was actually a V10 truck. Engine is from a '92 D350 and dunno where the trans came from, but the trans was upgraded with billet convertor etc. Engine upgraded to 350hp.. 4000 rpm governor springs. With 4.88 gears, it isn't going that fast at 3200 rpm, but it will pull a house. Plus, with the extra weight on the front end, it doesn't ride like a buckboard. Couldn't have assembled a truck like this for the price I paid, so I am definitely happy with it. Only gets 12 mpg, however.... xD

My final car payment is in 8 days. I haven't had a Cummins in my life in 20 years. I can't wait to get my hands on another one. I used to buy beaters and wrecks and transplant the drivetrains into old military 5/4 ton Jeeps, but this time I want something a bit newer I can put half a million miles on and not worry about. Dailying a Diesel with a 250 gallon transfer tank in the bed... you know, in case I wanna be the next Bandit out of Texas and bring you some Saint Arnold's Oktoberfest before the seasonal ends - it's one of those life journey beers you have to have at least once.

I had to replace my radiator today in my 05 2500. The engine has been doing this skip. Almost like a misfire. But it was tiny. I just did 2 500 mile runs to Idaho in the last week. No problems. I am scheduled to tow tomorrow. After the radiator the engine flashes a code. States it needs a cam sensor. Clear it. And while getting the trailer it hesitates while on the freeway and does this almost die during idle. I get home watch your video and do what you say not to do. On my back trying to get it to run well so I can head back to Idaho tomorrow. After the PIA install it idles bad and dies twice. I guess it could be in the wires.

Nice ride bro. Would you consider putting a tune on it? Fairly inexpensive and will really boost the torque and HP. It would make for a good segment on your channel, easy to do and all us diesel boys are doing it or thinking about it before the EPA outlaws it completely.

Living in Bulgaria I found that the parts for my vehicles are quite cheap, I have a 2000 model wrangler and a UAZ 405 4 x4 van from 1983, now looking for a lada pickup. The UAZ could be rebuilt at the side of the road no kidding so simple.
