I bought this water heater kzbin.infoUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 for use in my bus conversion. I installed it under my kitchen sink and it is fed by a high efficiency on-demand LP water heater. It is both a backup hot water source as well as a water saving device since we have hot water on demand rather than having to wait for the gas on demand water heater to finish its ignition cycle. I decided on this water heater due to the fact that it only draws 1300watts when it's ON instead of the 1500 watts that most Water heaters this size draw. In an RV a couple hundred watts can be a big deal. With very low standby losses, I don't have to worry about excessive power consumption. When propane is not available for our gas water heater, in conjunction with our low flow shower head there is enough hot water available to shower, albeit we won't be taking "hotel showers." Also very happy with the recovery rate of this water heater. Granted, it is quite small, but it does exactly what we need it to do.

I'm glad my water heater wasn't that bad and crudded up when I had the same issue. I had continuity on both elements though, and they weren't broken when pulling them out, so I suspect the problem was with the upper thermostat. Regardless, I bought one of those kits like you showed at my local hardware store for $40. At that price, you might as well replace both elements and thermostats on a 240v heater. Its been working well ever since with no breaker tripping.

Thanks for the video. I installed my water heater about 7 years ago but we live in an area with extreme calcium, etc.. I just had a water softener installed that removes calcium and a bunch of other things. Of course our water is great now but the water heater is beginning to trip the breaker every now and then. I was getting ready to put in a new water heater again...... until I saw your video. This beats changing the entire water heater all over again. I'm sure my elements look like yours did, if not worse. With the new water treatment softener and our water being very good, the new elements should (hopefully) hold up for a while. Great job. Thanks again. 👍

Worked for Sears service from 75-90 and did hundreds of element change outs. 90% of time tank would not drain from calcium buildup so had to change out full. State industries had a element called the sand hog that could operate in hard water with tanks full of calcium. Most of the heater elements had a 4 bolt flange and were a little tricky to install with water in the tank. I don't miss working on water heaters!

What Iv found that works fast. Take out bottom element. Then get you an air compressor and put nozzle in the drain port. Turn the water on at the top of the water heater. As the water drains the air stirs it up from the bottom and the water carrys out all the debris. Works like a charm.

Hay. Great thing with the water hose. Me personally with the apartments I take care of, I never replace the elements because the sediment will rot the metal. Then the water heater will leak. I want your opinion, at what water heater ago do you not replace the elements and just get a new water heater? Also, what you think of the new tankless water heaters taking the place of tank water heaters?
@LexVance4 жыл бұрын
If the water heater is all rusty & looking rough, I switch it out. Otherwise, it just gets new elements. I like the new tankless. Only issue has been air in the gas line so far. Once I bleed it, it fires up with no more issues. Thank you so much for watching Lee!

@@TimothyCondon00 Remove the top heating element for electric heaters. Can get a water heater wrench in the water heater section at lowes or homedepot. Gonna need a transmission funnel. Open up the nearest faucet prior to refilling with water and shut off the moment the foamy vinegar water comes out. Let sit overnight for best results.

@LexVance Жыл бұрын
Water is touching the electric current due element being broken.

I have had elements short one leg through the water and keep heating even with thermostat shut off. This will cause the overtemp reset to pop.

Draining the hot water tank isn't a result of you getting older, you're still skiddish when you flooded out the apartment years ago haha. Should tell that story again for the new subscribers.

My AO Smith 15 ltr water heater trips after the water is heated. Water gets heated fine and after that it trips instead of just auto off. Can someone help me wat is the issue please 😭😭😭 it happens all the time.
@LexVance3 жыл бұрын
Your element is broken. When the water hits the electricity from the element being broken the breaker trips.
@LexVance3 жыл бұрын
You'll have to turn the power and the water off and drain it. Then, twist the old one out and screw the new one back in. Turn water on. Check for leaks. Then turn power back on and youre done.
