Hi there, I have an MG EHS Luxury model and had same issues at beginning, I bought Motorola MA1 wireless android auto gadget and now everything works fine. The only bug I've seen at the moment is that if you turn on Spotify and Google maps or waze at same time you start having delay on again...but if not hos and rest works fine! Hope it helps!

Hi there MG Team. Some different information but I think it’s valuable. I have what I believe is a unique situation with an incident that occurred with our MG HS essence. I’d love to hear from anyone who tries to emulate this as i believe it’s not easy to do. So, the wife goes shopping in the MG. An hour later she calls & says, “ I hate this F*#@ car! The boot won’t open” She continues, “I’ve tried every button, boot, inside the car, remote, nothing works, it just keeps blinging” So I said , if it’s blinging, it means something is obstructing the boot, rather than a fault. She continues to curse the car😂 So I said I’ll be there in 5 min to check. When I got there, sure enough, no button opens the boot. But the car does make that blinging sound. Then! Quite accidentally, I knocked the gear stick while trying the interior button to open the boot & the gear stick clicked into the correct park position! The gear stick was NOT completely in the park position! The wife refuses to accept the fact that she made a mistake & didn’t put the gear stick right in the park position, she kept cursing the car! 🤦🏻‍♂️ I haven’t had the opportunity to try myself as it’s an ugly topic right now😂 Let me know if anyone manages to do it 😊

Love the story mate and thanks a lot for sharing! It is interesting and useful to point out because it DOES look like the car won't do certain stuff until IT THINKS it's perfectly safe to do so - e.g. when it's in "P" position. Great callout. 👍

After reading all your notes on the infotainment system I would like to add another quick fix for your MG owners site. Recently driving my wife’s MG HS Anfield edition in white it’s a great car on the road, just to mention on our holiday road trip the infotainment system froze using android auto on my Samsung S20 ultra while plugged in so the unit locked and couldn’t get to main menu. So I worked out a fix. HOLD the HOME Button for 20 seconds approx and YES the system reboots with MG Logo and then your good to go. Hope this helps. Cheers 🚗👍

I've just bought a new mg hs exclusive here in the uk. The dealer did advise me that the infotainment system may not function fully, as the chip-set supplied with the cars when shipped need upgraded (due to the whole 2020 saga and backlog) and will be recalled when the proper chips are available. He told me MG decided they'd rather release the cars for sale and let customers know before buying, instead of holding them back for who knows how long until chips are available. I'm wondering if this is why the system is sluggish and android auto is freezing and temperamental. I use a Oneplus 6 phone with original cable and it even makes the phone freeze up. Have to turn the phone off and on a few times to get it to work properly again. I'm curious if anyone else was told this by their dealer before buying?
@ValueCarsAU
@ValueCarsAU 2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting insight Paul, thank you. I've NEVER heard anything of the kind. And in all honesty - if the dealer told me that, I'd really appreciate it and still bought the car (but wouldn't complain about it!). We don't have any indication here that any infotainment issues will be fixed, either due to replacement chipset or software. Which is very very disappointing.

Very useful video mate. I completely agree that the inbuilt satnav is archaic and is not live (showing real time traffic conditions). As you said, I was ok with this as I planned to use a wired android connection, however the usb port keeps disconnecting and I have to disconnect and then reinsert the usb whilst driving which is not great. The car is still under warranty, should I take it back to the dealership?
@ValueCarsAU

Glad to hear you agree. I don't have this car anymore, it's been years since I've swapped it. I'd just connect a wireless adapter now and leave it there, never do a connect-disconnect again...

Hi Dimitri, I have a MG HS. I have driven it only 4000 kms. Yesterday, i wanted to put the Air Cond ON but the touch screen was not responding at all. It kind of froze. I made number of attempts but failed. I just switched off the car and waited for about 10 minutes. To my surprise, this time when i started the car, the air cond worked. This time, i also noted that the infotainment screen took longer to come ON. I guess, the chinese factor is showing up. Regards.

Thanks for sharing your experience, mate. Some people from UK are saying that a lot of these glitches are fixed by asking the dealer to update your infotainment software - sounds like they had a patch recently released for UK, I'm not sure about Australia or elsewhere around the world yet? 🤷‍♂️

I have a Honda Goldwing with Android Auto and it too is temperamental AF. I find jamming a piece of ice pole stick into the socket to force the contacts to touch works most of the time. Bumps can interrupt the connection so if I know where I am going I dont bother. You ride to live, not ride to mess with dodgy electronics. Having said that the corded Android works perfect in our Leaf which is just as well because the built in Maps are rubbish.

Omg I'm having the same problem 😫 I have a 2021 MG HS exclusive, and my phone worked right away when I purchased the car. But now, for some reason, it has just stopped? I took it the dealership, and they did an update on the system, and it still will not work? I have bought several new cables for my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and it will not work at all. I don't know what to do to fix this? Have done my own research on how to fix this no to no avail! Any help, 🙏

Hi Dimitri, I got my EHS Luxury (like HS PHEV Essence in your country) last Friday and got told from the dealer that they have updated the SW with the latest update. I was told that a few bugs have been solved and the responsiveness should have been improved as well. I did not see the lags you experienced so far, Android Auto works fluently and also wellkwnown german translation errors (Nahe -> Aus) have been corrected. I'll let you know which SW version I got as soon as I am back in the car. Btw. I have also a different USB iissue with this port. My iPod is not recognized as an USB decice whereas a seperate USB stick with music, pic and videos seems to work well.

That looks extremely slow. We have a MG EHS here, and it responds very much faster than what you see (my phone is a Xperia 1 III). I don't know if you've tried the new beta version of android auto, that has helped me a lot. I have the phone lying in the the same space as the plug is in, and I have a very short cable with angle plugs.

Hi Dmitri I just bought a 2022 HS vibe. I cant get android auto to work either. It is very annoying. It seems you fixed it with a cable. I tried multiple cables too. What is the secret to the cable? I was also sold the same spiel and my wife cant get apple car play to work either. It seems a bit rubbish. Like you, I love the car, but this issue is concerning. Your video doesnt quite give me the solution, but I appreciate your information. I hope I dont have to buy an oppo to-use it lol.😂
@ValueCarsAU
@ValueCarsAU Жыл бұрын
Haha thanks for commenting, Jenifer, there's no clear "solution" here as cables vary as much as the phone you use, and there isn't a perfect 1:1 match I could offer everyone here, unfortunately... From what I understood is that any cable that's sold as DATA cable (usually thicker than the cheap only charging ones) should work. So just check what they have at, say, Officeworks that fits your phone - e.g. iphone would need lightning plug while most Androids these days would need USB-C. Also, after a while sitting in the car in the sun etc, I'd say you might get issues with the cable after about a year of use - depends on your luck and manufacturer obviously. As I suspect all the plastic, etc in it gets progressively cooked as the car sits outside. Just my guess though.

The most annoying issue which I haven't yet found any solution for it, is the lagging maps and waze while using Android Auto. It has sometimes more than 500 m delay on positioning and even on voices. I would like to know if you have experienced such an issue on your MG HS. I use Xiaomi phones. Thank you!

I have a HS and I found a black USB-C lead with a right angle plug on both ends that was the perfect length. It just reaches the slot perfectly and being black you don't even notice it. My phone sits flat on it's side like it was designed that way. There is usually a solution to a problem, just need to research until you find it.

Regarding the AC, I noticed that there's no air coming from the bottom part of the car (I mean the air that comes to your feets), is it the same for you? Your Android Auto still isn't working properly. It should be instantly changed. From Maps to Menu to Music etc. The lag is just not normal. What mobile phone do you use. And what Android version. Its all important to have the correct specs. I would also suggest uninstall Android Auto and Reinstall.
@ValueCarsAU

Uninstall - as in, on the device? I thought Android Auto is part of the system, not something you install/uninstall?
