Fixing your Brompton Bicycle's flat tire - 6 Speed version

There is nothing worse than a flat (okay maybe your bike getting stolen is) but a flat is no joke either especially if you are out in the middle of nowhere!
At Curbside Cycle we originally concocted a written blog on how to change a flat tire on a 6 Speed Brompton Bicycle and was hailed as a great resources by our beloved Brompton fans. Today, we are relaunching that as a full fledged video that will take you step by step from the indicator chain, removal of the wheel, to using a tire level and removing the tire and putting it back together.

How i wish brompton develops a quick release system, i'm tired just watching the process of changing/removing the tires compared to a road bike!

What would you say to someone who absolutely fkn hates changing tyres because of the knack required. The more i try to practice it the more frustrating it becomes times. What an excruciating process. Does my head clean in 😡😡😡😡😡

Why so complicated? I just left the tire on the bike, fiddled the tube out, patched the leak and put it back in. Worked like a charm.

Perhaps one of the best and easy to follow instruction on rear wheel removal. I had to remove wheel when the bungee cord of my rack wrapped around the sprocket. Took wheel off and removed bungee the gear adjustment was relatively easy. Thanks!

what happen if you fit the tire with the wrong rolling direction?

I normally inflate the tire a little, and then roll the wheel to be able to see if its position along the rim is right, and then deflate again, before remounting the wheel on the bike. Luckily I have never had a puncture on my 2019, now, somewhat less than "Superlight" 😄!

A fear I have is if an infected needle that a junkie dropped on the road or sidewalk punctured the tyre of a cyclist and got lodged inside it. When the person puts his or her fingers inside the tyre the needle cuts into the skin of the unsuspecting person repairing their flat.
