Your fixes were great. I think the biggest problem the original artist had was remembering there needs to still be a form to the head underneath the hair.

I dont like most caricature artwork, I feel like they dont catch the essence. Like they just are distorting thing just because making not feel like the person anymore. Jason Seiler is really good he make it still feel like the person.

"Distortions" are the enemy of caricature. Exaggeration in caricature enhances the truth. While distortions are lies (mistakes). You probably have just been exposed to a lot of bad caricature to have such a negative opinion of the art form. Jason's work IS great. He has done beautifully grotesque levels of exaggeration in the past. A lot of his editorial work doesn't call for that though.

Court Jones Yes exaggeration was actually the word I was looking for thx. I wouldnt say I have seen bad caricaturist. I think I just have a perticular way I find it to be pleasing. I dont think many people can pull off caricaturing well imo of course. As said before I dont feel or see the essence in most people work when they do it.

Hey Court, do you think this is a skill that can be learned or is it innate? I ask because I have been drawing and selling portraits for almost twenty years so I like to think I have some control of a pencil. But I have never successfully been able to caricature anyone.

Caricature is definitely a learned skill. I didn't know how to caricature until I was trained by other artists. In fact, skill in art of any kind is never innate or inborn. It's not a gift, as some people like to call it. Every artist I know who's really good has also worked really hard and studied with good instructors to get there. So there is hope for everyone!

It's an anti-fouling glove, I have one myself. It's used by digital artists to help reduce friction between your hand and your tablet screen, helping you get cleaner, smoother lines.
