Minor correction, the oil capacity in an AllTrack is 5.7 LITERS, not quarts like you said. Measured in quarts, oil capacity is 6 (according to my 2017 user manual). Another thing worth mentioning is the rod that sits inside the filter (I think it's the anti-drainback valve) sometimes comes out attached to the filter housing instead of staying in the engine as it does in your video. I don't think it matters either way as it has O-rings on each end, but I was a bit confused the first time it happened. Some of the other videos showing this procedure show the rod coming out with the filter cover. They changed the design of this part so how it comes out varies by year.

Good work! Once I tried to change the oil on my Toyota camry hybrid and it was a nightmare, looks like you got this down thought!

I changed my oil and now I’m getting an oil pressure light. The only thing is the little wobbly stick on the oil filter is broken. Can this cause that light to go off? Also what does that stick do and can I still drive my car?

Hey, old video but how do you get the full front on jack stands? Can I jack it up from something other than the pinch welds? Also does the car need to be level or can I just use ramps to raise the front
@FixitBongbong Жыл бұрын
Hey! Here's a good video @HumbleMechanic created around jacking up a mk7 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gF6moJSOqblmfdE . If you're just lifting the front and want to use the pinch welds you can lift via the rear jack points. You can also use the subframe or you just use ramps like you mentioned. Hope that helps!

Hey thanks for the info !! Nobody told me that the plug is one time use, should I try to keep the same one since all auto parts in my area are closed ? Also, do you think it’ll work okay with only a flathead ? Thanks again
@FixitBongbong4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, the one time use thing is only a recommendation from VW. If you're not leaking I wouldn't sweat it and just replace it next time. I've got a buddy that would replace his every other time. Also, I think a flat head is fine, the special tool is just a nice to have!

I got it done, but I found there were three 13 mm bolts missing. Do you know what the specs are for these bolts for the skidplate?
@FixitBongbong2 жыл бұрын
I don't off hand, but your local dealer should be able to sell you replacements or get your the correct specs. Sorry!

I've got an alltrack. I never go off road. What if I leave the skid plate off after I change the oil? Any problem?
@FixitBongbong4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom! I mean technically I guess not really.. but I personally would advise against it because it keeps your engine compartment clean and still protects against curbs, high manhole covers, and other road debris. I get where your head's at.. total PITA to take it on and off if you don't have electric tools.

As new 19 Alltrack S owner, I feel I need to say: "replace the skid plate!" There's a lot of plastic stuff down there and you don't have to bee off road to have a rock or can or piece of metal hit the oil pan and there goes your engine! BTW, you can change the oil with the skidplate on using an oil suction device, search!

Great video even after two years! The skid plate can be left off but it does a few more things than protect the engine. It also helps with fuel efficiency and cooling. It cleans up the air flow underside of the car. Wind tunnel tested.
