Great camera work. I was a little nervous about doing this one, but you've given me the confidence I needed. I'll be coming back to watch more of your work. Thank you.

Exactly what my 04 colorado was doing. wobbly pully and slight bearing noise. thanks i was having problem finding the pump, was worried it was a internal pump. but thanks for showing how easy it is, i can do this

I find your technique of using an air chisel on the fan nut very interesting as I have never seen that done before . Please explain how you do it in detail. Thanks , good video .
@FixItPhillip4 жыл бұрын
By setting the flat end of the air chisel on the edge of the nut it will impact it loose, same with tightening it as well

@@FixItPhillip thanks for the quick repy!! ordered and received today a water pump and clutch GMB kit from rock auto for my 2007 Colorado with the 3.7 inline 5 and just realized it says it's reverse rotation. Now I don't know if I ordered the wrong one and I need to do it asap because I have a awful noise seemingly coming from the water pump. Changed the belt, tensioner and idler but it seems to only made the noise worse and happen all the time now. Possibly new tensioner is putting more pressure on the water pump making it noisy all the time instead of intermittently. Just trying to figure out if I need to send it back and get a regular rotation

I plan on replacing the whole fan clutch and water pump assembly, including the fan. I dont have a tool to loosen the fan clutch bolt. Would it be possible to remove the bolts to the fan, then remove the bolts to the pulley in order to get to the water pump bolts?

I did this recently and the special tool from the auto parts store, being thin and the nut being on for many years, did not work. So i had to remove the pump, pully and fan as a unit, not easy nor fun. I had to cut the pump apart with a right angle grinder, then get a pipe wrench on the square fan nut, it finally came apart.

Doing this job tomorrow got the water pump today . Says on instructions to use a sealer on both sides of gasket. It's a regular type gasket. Do I need to use a sealer I didn't buy any lol .

Subscribed...half way through a Granpa helping Grandson with his first truck pull the eng due to rod knocking project before he starts driving in a couple months. Bought a 3.5 used...but selling as I'm just going to rebuild it with him...so he will have a great truck for years. Question: I subscribed to your channel..loved your water pump change...you would not happen to have made or know of another great series of (your) videos showing the pulling and or replacement or wow luck rebuilding of this engine so that I can finish the project with my Grandson? Tks bunches. Great video.

Thanks for the nice video bud. Is about to change water pump on my hummer h3. Hopefully I can do it. I will do the same like you do which is replacing the idler pulley, tensioner pulley, serpentine belt, water pump and pulley , also the fan clutch. Truck has 140000 miles so just trying to keep smooth. One question : did you torched each bolt? If does , how many ft pounds? Thanks
@FixItPhillip4 жыл бұрын
I can probably send you the torque specs if that helps, email me at fixitphillip88@gmail.com. please be sure to subscribe, much appreciated

Can the water pump leak out the front? Can the puuley leak or is it the pump?
@FixItPhillip3 ай бұрын
It can leak from the weep hole, or the front shaft where pulley meets, or gasket
@tainchains3 ай бұрын
So it can leak from the pulley right?
@FixItPhillip3 ай бұрын
@tainchains from right behind the pulley yes

I don't have a air chisel and the fan clutch wrench broke now what should I do?
@FixItPhillip Жыл бұрын
Another method would be using a pry bar (that's also metal at the end of the handle), and a hammer. Put the tip of pry bar close to the edge of the fan clutch nut (Same way you would do a air chisel), and give it a few good whacks with the hammer, basically acting as a manual air chisel.

My water pump pulley will not come off, why did yours come off so easily?
@FixItPhillip4 жыл бұрын
Once you get the 4 bolts off the water pump pulley. It may be stuck from surface rust. You can try tapping on the pulley for it to loosten up. Or carefully prying it with a pry bar from behind the pulley. Just be careful not to damage the pulley. Letting some sprayed wd40 or pb blaster soak in for a while may help too. Good luck with it! Thanks for the question. Please be sure to subscribe, much appreciated!

What where the symptoms overheating ?
@FixItPhillip4 жыл бұрын
If its leaking or the impeller inside the water pump is broken it can overheat yes. The bearing on this one was going bad causing it to make a loud noise and wobbly pulley. Once that bearing in the pump goes bad it can start to leak coolant causing a overheat issue
