Do you often find some water water in the boot of your Mini? If so, it's probably the common seal fault with the rear taillights. Here is my quick and easy DIY fix using a lovely 2015 Mini Cooper S as my demo car. It really is a simple fix which will save you money and keep your boot water free.

The irritating problem I have is after I've washed my JCW hatch and lift the hatch quite a bit of water runs out of the hatch all over the rear I've just hand dried.

Mine doesn't, have no idea where it leaks from but I already sealed my taillights and no joy.

Our mini had this issue and the mould was pretty bad in the secondary compartment. I read the water can spread underneath the back seats 🤔 Is this a common side effect with this type of leak?

Yes it seems so. I have water all underneath. It shorted my right light and I have to replace it. Such a pain

Best R53 performance upgrades. I am having a problem with center toggles sometimes not functioning properly. Along with windows not retracting in the summer months. And, there is the issue with my drivers interior door handle cable came off. Have to roll down window to open door from the outside. It’s really a bugger when it’s wet out.😢

My 1.6 copper roadster has a serious leak somewhere the passenger foot well gets soaked under the carpets. I had it checked and fixed by an independent bmw garage they said it was the side door inner liner problem letting water in but it still gathers water in the foot well. It’s getting a lot of mould now too so was thinking what to do can’t sell it in its state and I don’t want to scrap it my pride and joy as they don’t make this model no more. Apart from the water it gathers everytime it rains it’s in very good condition. Now I have noticed a little water in the boot under the hood but only drops surely that can’t be the main problem as it gets really damp in the front Someone help me out here please!

butyl tape will last forever it is what your headlights are sealed with, just dont expect to ever take your taillights off easily again.

Makes no difference what make or model your car - IT IS ALWAYS THE LIGHTS - the rubber around the lights is not as robust as the rubber seal around the doors!!!

I think omitting to indicate the need to locate ad release two catches on the inner aspect of the light fitting is neglectful. As such this instructional account is alarming.

I have water issues with my Mini, but in my case the water gets inside the actual door, so when you open it, the water comes running out of the top of the open door onto the rear seats and the interior of the boot :o(

How can you get the light back out to change a bulb ??? wondering if a neoprene typed gasket will work?

You can change the bulbs from the interior as well.

will I be able to see water in the trunk? because I didnt see any where the tire inflator kit is.

As water will normally fall to the lowest point you’ll normally know there is a problem when it’s where the tire inflation kit is…

@@TheOfficialMiniGuy from what I read online water can leak from both the side doors and the front glass near the battery box, I have alot of investigating to do. the good news is I don't think my AC drain is leaking.
