TrillRock a perm is permanent, the hair hit with the solution will be curly forever. You will have to cut it off when you no longer want the curly hair. Obviously it only affect the hair hit with the solution, so when your hair begins to grow out again you will need to get another one when it gets long / really noticeable. Its best to get it done when you have longer hair, so that you dont need to redo it too often. Because short hair makes it easy to see the curly parts and the natural hair parts (when it grows back). With longer hair you can kind of hide the new-growth from showing

I seen a tutorial video of an Asian guy who looked like he had a perm like this but would twist it with tiny rubber bands and leave it in a few hours

kingdavid772 bantu knots is what he did and he left them in for 2 hours then retwisted and left them in for 4 hours but the problem with this way is that they are afro curls which would look weird because the front would look unmaintained and like an afro and the rest would be more textured where the curls just look better. Also if you try the twist way like he did with rubberbands with just water then if u get that part wet with a tiny amout of water the whole afro textured part will go back to its natural pattern and wont maintain how it looks
