You may think it's beautiful and looks like a butterfly, while I may look at it and see a sad disaster. That's what makes it Art. It's not meant to be pleasing to everyone. It's meant to tell a story and even if only a few people see it's meaning and beauty, it can still be considered an Art. experimental. twigs music draws inspiration from r&b/trip-hop/alternative/electronic and much more, but she transcends a single genre. there are tonnes of alternative black female musicians though; grace jones, kelela, solange, erykah badu, sza, lianne la havas, tinashe, jhené aiko, janelle monáe, lulu james, moko, the internet, kilo kish & tonnes more. even beyoncé's self-titled 2013 LP was very alternative in places, black females have always been pushing musical boundaries (missy, lauryn & aaliyah being massive examples in the 90s).
