Hello lovely people! (ALL SHORT CUTS ARE LISTED BELOW)
Thank you for helping us grow this community to 15k members :)
Today (Since it's my Birthday) we decided to make the second video in the "Fl Studio 12 Basics" Series which shows you all the main shortcuts I use.
I will likely do a video specifically for the Piano Roll shortcuts and Edison shortcuts so let us know in the comments if you want those videos :)
I will be filming the workflow video soon, because I know that just knowing some shortcut keys doesn't make you have a fast, efficient and concise workflow which will allow you to capture your musical ideas.
The song from the video is here:

Many thanks Mike for this awesome tutorial! As a side note an old-timer like me can't believe the incredible character, talent, work ethic, ability and intellect you and so many other wonderful people have here on KZbin that are sharing your knowledge with other people wanting to create something themselves. Kudos and fair winds in all your endeavors!

Thank you for these very useful shortcuts Little shortcut I found : if you hold Shift and scroll with the mouse wheel : - In the PlayList, if your mouse is above a pattern's title (or above nothing related to this pattern), it will move the selected pattern really precisely - In the PlayList, if your mouse is above the notes of a pattern, it will move precisely the notes inside the pattern (which feels a bit weird and useless) - In the Piano Roll, it will move precisely the selected note

I use F4 all the time to create new Patterns and then I use F2 to rename/color everything. Ctrl + Shift + C is also something I use a lot to clone my patterns. Saves a lot of time when you're starting on a new project. I usually bring my samples/vsts/audiofiles into the mixer 1 by 1 as I go along. Ctrl + L works for that too!

hey man, nice video. you teached me some stuff i didnt know yet. but theres one important trick you didnt show: pressing 12. (maybe because that is too well known?) it'll close everything that is opened in you project and that is better for your cpu. so definitely if your computer isnt the best, use it quite often while working (for example when moving into mixing the next part of your track) to save your cpu and also clear your screen so you can overlook everything.

If you go to your midi notes and highlight (select) the notes you want until they are red, hover over the note (any) and press control and alt scroll your mouse up and down and it simultaneously moves the velocity up or down.

7:49 To move clips from Channel Rack to the Mixer, select them in the Channel Rack and choose first open track on mixer. It doesn't have to be the Master. Can be 26 (or whatever) and press: Ctrl+Shift+L Your video states the Alt key and at least 6 people below asked what you said and why it doesn't work, so I answered as many as I could find. @ 3:50 you don't need to press ctrl +c in this case, you can just select a pattern you want to copy and press ctrl +b and it will copy it on the next bar available. So basically just ctrl + mouse drag and select patterns followed by ctrl + b is the fastest way of copying, once you get used to that you will just flow through the song arranging process.

Good tuts here, i like it. Shortcuts: When we have the freedom to select our own Shorts? IL works hard an continuous on Stuff but simplefing Stuff is not the strength of IL. But i like FL...for years. Better is when the Pen or Slice-tool, are on 1-2-3-4-5. Maybe in FL13?! Because its simple.

For the Ctrl + Alt + L one, it seems to only select things that are outputting to the selected mixer track for example the only thing that is connected to my master is the premaster. So when I did the command while my master track was selected, it only highlighted the premaster. But if I did the command while the presmaster was selected, it highlighted every track that was outputting to it which was nearly all of the tracks.

Hey I've been learning a lot watching your videos and see them as my go-to resource for fl-studio and sound production. Thank you for your effort! I have one question about fl-studio that is really bothering me: When I press ctrl+T or cmd+T, sometimes it toggles the keyboard piano, and other times it creates a marker. How do I control which one happens? Each of them use the same "ctrl+T/cmd+T", but I don't know why they work the way they do. Thank you for your time, and I can't wait for upcoming videos!

Awesome video. Really appreciate it. Btw, a lot of people find it difficult to find the right sound, whether it's downloading samples onlines. Tweaking samples or finding or creating the right preset. Do you have any tips regarding that? That's where beginners struggle the most.
@inthemix
@inthemix 7 жыл бұрын
Amar Kumar It's something that takes some practice and looking up tutorials online. Trying to visualise what you want each sound to do etc. As for samples, it's always the case that some samples just sound better than others and you need to look through as many as you can
@AmarMTV
@AmarMTV 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response. Yeah, that makes sense. What I am struggling with these days is the "stuck in the loop" disease. I will be motivated to work on a project and I will start writing the music. After sometime, my mind will only hear the melody and I will be out of ideas on what I should write next. When there is some other song playing, I can easily improvise but when it is my own melody I just tend to get stuck in a loop. Any tips for that? Thanks.
