Ur car still good? Is that the recommended oil change? Cuz I thought for ur first one is supposed to be like higher than that cuz Honda adds stuff to the oil to help break the engine in

I have a load of parts coming in 😅 tsp catted dp, prl front mount, then im getting a 27won rear motor mount and a remark catback from a buddy here who also has an FL5. Plus last night I ordered a set of apex vs5 rs wheels lol. I need to stop , I have a sickness lol. Love the FL5 though, had a 16' wrx for the last 5 years and decided to sell her and buy an FL5. @@tjbooger2508 be sure to focus on reliability mods too with the ambient temps you experience! PWR radiator and HEL oil cooler are a must to compliment the other parts you purchased! You've got this, and it sounds like you're putting together an amazing build. Are you military?

@pointbypatrol I will definitely be doing the radiator and oil cooler probably the next phase of parts. I'm not military, been living on Guam since 1996. We were in Seattle before that but my Moms work brought back out here. My family is from orginally from Palau and moved up to guam after WWII in the early 60s.

0w-20 is stupid to have here in Australia. It’s all for emissions purposes for fuel economy. Soon I’m going to run mugen by motul 5w-30 which my other cars run on. It’s just way too thin for our climate. I realised there is two different versions of Honda filter as one is from U.S and the other Japan, are they both compatible? Thanks

The oil filters? I would imagine they would be the same. Your climate is much hotter so 5w30 makes sense. I'll use 0w20 here in the spring and fall and 5w30 in the summer.

@@commentmancommentman1658 in the Honda manual book it states you can use 0-20, 0-30, 5-30. Australia has a hot climate. I heard the Honda dealers use ampol 0-20 here. Switching to 5-30 the engine temps dropped by a fair bit during 39c weather.

Thanks for the video! Very helpful 👍🏼 When you are installing the new oil filter do you have to take some oil and lubricate the top at all before installing it? I remember learning about that way back in the day What do you do with the oil waste btw?

You would only really need to lubricate the seal on a brand new engine. There will be oil present on the mating surface from the old filter draining which will smear onto the new filter seal as you tighten it on. I collect the waste in a large jug, and take it to a local disposal facility when the jug is full.

u can take the old oil back to autozone they'll dispose it for you and old filter just throw it in the trash

I have an fk8 i will be doing lap days and time attack. My research has told me Motul 8100 Power is fine in 0w20. For stock tune and motor. Opinion?

Yep, you should be fine on that. Climate comes into play a little, but no worries if the temperature is mild. For hotter temps I'd probably pump to 5w30.

will the motul 300v void warranty? Is it API certified? Looking at the offerings from FCPeuro the LM and Castrol are certified.

It's not API certified. Its intended use is entirely for racing. It should not void a warranty though because automotive dealerships do not test the oil to see if they meet a specific rating.

What's the part number for the crush washer of the oil drain plug? Thanks in advance.

Not sure. When you buy a factory oil filter the drain plug washer comes with it.

How is the stock Honda synthetic 0w-20 oil for regular driving? I have 3 dealer-covered oil changes.

Doing my 1st oil change on my new 2024 CTR and cannot get the two Phillips screws in the front of the splash shield out. They are totally frozen, will not turn. Any hints? Tried penetrating oil to no avail.

They are a total pain to get off the first time. I used a Milwaukee screw gun and got them, but you may need to use vice grips to break them loose.

how do you read the dipstick? I can never read it correctly

It's damn near impossible. I use a paper towel, and rock the end against the paper towel to see where the oil soaks in.

If you have plenty of sunshine you can check it an an angle where the sun light reflects against the dipstick plastic level checker.

There's really no right answer. There are a lot of people that do it early, and there are others that wait for the maintenance notification from the car.
