Don't want to bore you, but I tweaked with adjustments, spring tension and so on and got a new speed record. Thought I'd share this with you in a short clip.

Besitze schon seid einigen Jahren einen Hielscher Vacu Mini aus meiner Praktikums Zeit beim lieben Lutz Hielscher. Die Einstellungen und Optimierungen sind nie vorbei und jedes Jahr krieg ich ihn besser ans Laufen ;) Flammenfresser sind echt die empfindlichsten Modelmotörchen übehaupt. Selbst die Nitromotoren von RC Autos lassen sich leichter optimal abstimmen.

The power it produces is barely enough to overcome friction - the slightest leak or mechanical misalignment will make it stall

Cool design. Have you thought about adding a "flame-isolating / flame-confining" box that would prevent cold air from circumventing the flame -and entering the cylinder? Or would that, based on your findings, have too little effect in real life? Nice video.

@@budapest.Lamperth I tried shielding the flame by hand, the motor instantly blows it out. I guess it would benefit from a ball type exhaust valve like many flame eaters have.
