Flame Throwing Drone Helps Remove Net on UHV Power Line

When faced with certain objects twining round an ultra high voltage (UHV) power line, workers no longer need to climb a high ladder to remove it any longer, drones can now be used to do the dangerous deed.
Maintenance workers in Xianniang City in central China's Hubei Province demonstrated the removal of a 12-meter long nylon net entwining around a UHV with a flame-throwing drone on Tuesday.
"In the morning, our inspector found a foreign matter on the line. Through investigation, the nylon net was brought by strong wind, and severely affected the line’s safe operation. We’ll use a drone to deal with the emergency to ensure safety," said Feng Qi, head of Xianning power line maintenance station, Hubei power transmission and transformation project company.
Workers flew the flame-throwing drone towards the net, spitting fire at about four to five meters away from the nylon net and burnt it to the ground. In ten minutes, the power line resumed its normal operation.

The drone pilot has to fly and keep an eye on the drone's vitals like battery voltage, etc. The payload operator only focuses on, well, operating the payload, which in this case is a flamethrower. It's a team effort. One man operations is possible, but for high risk jobs involving a power line, it's better to do it as a team.

Что же касается превышения скорости, то вы очевидно не в курсе - наиболее безопасная скорость это скорость потока, а поток на трассе идёт обычно со скоростью 120 - 130 км/ч, если вы один будете плестись 90, то вы будет мешать всем остальным, но это пол беды, гораздо опаснее то, что вас все будут постоянно обгонять, а это на наших двухполосных шоссе делать непросто т.к. мешает встречный поток, а из обгоняльщиков не все водители, среди них много и водятлов и блондинозавров, последние имеют особенность возвращаться на свою полосу до завершения обгона и если вы не нажмёте на тормоз - блондинозавр ударит вашу машину в переднее левое крыло своим правым задним крылом. После этого обычно бывает ритмический занос машины блондинозавра и её ставит поперёк потока. Как будут развиваться дальнейшие события никто не знает, возможно встречный камаз начнёт обруливать эту машину и выедет вам в лобовую. Примеров на ютюбе полно. И ещё - само по себе превышение скорости крайне редко бывает причиной аварии, в 99,9% случаев причина в косорукости водятлов, а вот её ПДД никак не ограничивает. И опять же ютюб в помощь! - посмотрите как много аварий происходит на небольших скоростях в том числе даже на парковках. Не, тут у вас нет шансов, вы не сможете меня убедить, что превышение скорости это зло. Надо не скорость ограничивать, а нормально обучать водителей и отсеивать долбоёбов, а ещё надо делать нормальный техосмотр, а не сводить его к тупому получения бумажки. Вы вообще то в курсе, что на немецких автобанах скорость вообще не ограничена? Как думаете, почему?

To be honest. a Matrice 600 pro will cost you just short of 6000$ it is more than capable to lift the flamethrower they got under theirs. if those lines broke, the company would certainly need to pay out more than 6000$. im no expert on this. but i would assume that a wet piece of cloth could short the wires ? im thinking that if those wires short, a faint "UMPH" could be heard in the distance. from the power station :p no matter what, im sure the cost of the drone is nothing, compared to the cost of repairs and damage those wires could potentially do.

Nicky Griffin Power transmission lines are bare metal, like the cable that holds up a bridge, not plastic covered modern home electrical wire or old fashioned cloth wire. They are spaced out like you see so that the hot and neutral wires do not touch, so no insulation is needed on the wire itself. When u you see wires sparking it is when they are touching something that is grounded and the act like a welder you might have seen on television when lines are down from a wind or ice storm. If you ever mess around with wiring of a faulty appliance and you are not sure if it still has power only touch it with one hand, put the other in your back pocket so electricity does not cross your chest and stop your heart. I'm only saying this because anyone that thinks fire will damage those wires in the video has no idea how alternating current works. The same goes with high voltage direct current like in your modern car HID bulbs, people get killed by touching those when changing out to the millenial fad of blue headlights. Capacitors are dangerous until discharged and most ignore the shock hazard sticker on the housing to get that Fast and Furious look on their Honda.
