Port Adelaide - most are pics from when my parents and relatives first migrated to Australia from Italy in the early 50's, and a couple were taken later on. People we still see now and then, and some that have since passed away.

Sarah blasko's version is even better than the cold chisel original imo. She has a beautiful voice and any of her covers are actually different in some respect to the original. p.s. I love your slide show. Very sentimental and beautiful.

This song is part of the sound of the movie ' Little Fish ' an ( Aussie movie) and it is song buy a bunch of 6-7 year olds from The Sacred Heart School. And it is a very good version , no joke..

of course I know the original is Cold Chisel, one of the greatest bands in the world. It's not a cover, it's a remix. A cover is when you sing it exactly the way it is sung, speed, genre etc.. This is a remix, when you change the song speed/ sounds and voice.

I live in Italy now, have been for four years, and there are some things that make me homesick - Aussie music is one of them. All in all, I prefer living in Europe though, Oz is just too far from anywhere!

Are you for real? Oxford Dictionary - Cover: record or perform a 'new version' of (a song) originally performed by someone else. Remix - produce a different version of [a (original) musical recording] by altering the balance of seperate tracks. For this to be a remix (which it is not), it would involve remixing the original track by 'Cold Chisel' (which has not been done here). So in conclusion: it is a 'cover version' of Cold Chisel's song 'Flame trees', sung by Sarah Blasko.

To me this is an awesome version of the song, and a perfect example of what a cover version should be. I think a cover version should offer a new interpretation of a song, rather than rehashing the original. Whether it is successful or not is an individual thing I guess.

Maybe you have heard of a guy called 'Jimmy Barnes', the 'lead singer' of 'Cold Chisel' before forging a 'solo' career. When you cover a song, you can give a new interpretation. Like Sarah has done. A remix is just adding/re-arranging parts with the original song. Sorry, this is NOT a remix. It is a cover. A re-interpretation yes, certainly, but not a 'remix'. A remix would be using the Cold Chisel version and adding a dance beat and a Pittbull verse to it.
