They didn't see this - they saw the first bit, minus the post-teleport. This is actually three cinematics put together. 1. End of an Era - What everyone saw when servers shut down. 2. A Realm Reborn - Trailer for the remake 3. The Flames of Truth - Reward for finishing some of the hardest content in the game(At the time) in ARR

That 2nd part you hadn't seen is a cutscene in part of the Coils of Bahamut raid in ARR giving an explanation of what actually happened to Bahamut and Louisoix. There is a lot more to the story in the coil raid series though, definitley worth playing through even if you have to just grab a few people to run it unsynced for the lore.

After all these years of playing FFXIV, that trailer still makes me sad, having played for 5+ years, not necessarily in a bad way though. But sad because of what happened to our friend Louisoix. Otherwise, fantastic video. And, welcome to FFXIV! Though I am a tad late in saying so.

What happened at the end was the entire population was praying for his victory against bahamut and since enough people were praying for him he became a primal letting him fight bahamut

Nope. Luisoix was vanishing and becoming one with the aether he summoned from the 13 and became a primal for his own wish to overcome Bahamut. Similar to Tsukuyomi.

@@royox You're close, but not quite right: the people DID pray for his success, and he DID turn into a primal by the combined aether (normally crystals for beast tribes) and the combined prayer for something to save them, in this case the 12. After he turned into the primal Pheonix, he realized he was drawing too much aether from the land to sustain himself, and was going to cause devastation on the land unless he released it, so he let go of the power and "died"... Or so he thought, but in that split second when he had let go of the power but hadn't yet died, bahamut tempered him, forcing him to use the power of Pheonix to sustain bahamut and slowly, slooowly start to regenerate himself.

You should look up the final day of the original FFXIV when we got to stand around and wait for the world to shut down, really puts this cinematic into perspective.

Those people were standing around. Most players were on the Cartenaeu Flats, where Imperial mobs were spawning en masse. The trailer showed a battle that the players were actually fighting in when it started playing.

Ive been playing FFXIV since opening day in 1.0, and just recently I FINALLY decided to go back and finish all the coils. The Final Coil was amazing with the revelations that came about, and even though I should have done those sooner, the amount my mind blew was insane. Nice to finally get closure, and it hit as hard as the day I was logged in during the final moment of 1.0 and End of an Era came out of nowhere to superhype everyone.

It's awesome how all these years later that meteor shower from Dalamud and the song actually are plot relevant now. The fall of Dalamud served two purposes.

If you still haven't, you should go through and go play through the binding coil raids (the ARR 8-man raids), you can probably get through it with 2-3 other players doing it unsynched, just to experience the story (though a few of the bosses might require a larger party due to mechanics).

Like most people said, welcome to the FFXIV family! What most people don't tell you unless you skimmed through the HW story in Azys La, the bahamut that caused the 7th umbral calamity is a primal form of the original. The original died like 1,000 years ago or more when the Allagans had reigned. Tiamat, his sister, witnessing his death and the enslavement of her kin, felt rage over the allagans and all of eorzea. Because of this, she accidentally summoned a primal version filled with hate and anger which is what was sealed in Dalamud this whole time. Just imagaine what the ACTUAL Bahamut could have done! (Its also why when you fight bahamut in coils, his name is Bahamut Prime *winkwink*)

Heavensward was definitely one of the high points of the whole Final Fantasy series. The story, the music, they were firing on all cylinders for that expansion.

As someone who first got into FFXIV around the time Stormblood was wrapping up, I believe, I’ve always wished that I had played the original FFXIV. I know about how flawed it was, but I can’t imagine how hard this would hit as a gamer after playing that first.

Hey man, no worries about being late! The best part is, the further you get into the story, it starts to get so multifaceted its crazy. Theres so many threads that can pop up at any time to actually fuck us, its so interesting to see what the next threat is. Such a good game.

It's hard to find, but you should look in on the classic FF 1.0 cinematic. I think IGN has it. It's called "FFXIV Version 1.0 The Journey Begins - Official Opening Cutscene" Don't do Boulotaur2025 though, they put random music from the sound track over it. This was less of a opening and more of a closing cinematic for 1.0 pretty sad, someone recorded it when the old 1.0 servers shut. It's called "Final Fantasy XIV: The Final 11 Minutes *End of Eorzea*"

Just here to rewatch this but then suddenly remember Emet's death was similar to Bahamut, from Scions trying to reseal him and fail then to when we Louisoix Ardbert's axe thru him.

everyone mentions how calm everyone is what people fail to realise is that they assume dalamund is going to crash in to eorzea which would have wipped everyone out so it is not so much calm as in they know they will be killed any way so they are looking their possible demise in the face.

Oi man, I played FF14 before coming back to wow ( or as my friends and I say "Woe") and now going to ESO or FF14. IDK if u knew but when FF14 1st came out it was terrible and the Square actually shut the whole game down and redid to fit players desires. No patches and waiting they just hit the reset button. This is why it is called a realm reborn. They actually made the reset part of the lore and all the people who played the before reset edition got a special tattoo on all future toons and other items for their wait. At his point, I think wow is beyond that and needs a wow 2 or should shut it down for a while to redo the whole game to 2019 standards.
