Great t-shirt Sam! And a nice battlereport once again. Just a few notes: you can't swap hits from an artillery bombardment. Assaulting teams only count as being in cover when they start in concealment and end their charge in concealment as well. Regarding the bazooka in an assault, you now always roll against side armour, special weapons like panzerfausts and such no longer have a different anti-tank rating against top armour. At around 51 minutes, you hit the Americans on 5s, not 6s, as they are only concealed (they tried to dig in). When Sam charged the Shermans, he only needed to move one team forward. There was no defensive fire (tanks block LoS) and as both Shermans were bailed, there would be no infantry or active tank teams within 10cm at the end of the assault, with the result of the Germans automatically winning and capturing the Shermans. You can re-roll a Last Stand check if your HQ is close enough, so Van der Heydte could've helped the Jägers. And charging with StuGs... oh well, live and learn I suppose.

Great batrep guys!!! I really enjoy seeing these. I think as the German player, I would have started with both tank platoons in reserve and made sure to have the mortars on. They were your best weapon against the paras and they only got to shoot once.........

Wonderful video as always. I enjoy everyone of your FOW videos, but the battle report especially. A note to the game. In the last assault where the StuG's fail their counterattack roll, you push back the PzIV as well. Thats a mistake. Only the original assaulting/defending teams can be forced to break off. Otherwise you could only launch 1 attack as the attacker if your 1st assault fail. This could potentially had shifted the game. But at I said in the beginning, great video. Both Sam and you are a joy to follow.

When any German player is asked, 'what would you have changed tactically?', regardless of what they say, is actually thinking "brought Americans or russians." Lol

interesting you used roads in this mat. I have it and always use the printed one. I actually bought a different mat because i am finding that printed roads really limit set up

I found the pre=printed roads limiting as well but I thought the look with the GF9 roads looks pretty good and you can still treat those printed roads as pathways or whatnot.

I was concerned about 4th edition when they pulled their 21st panzer division products, and had no book support. However they've now re-released the models, and have a new book. So I guess I'll finally abandon V3 for V4.

Fratrick Feral They seemed ok. Given what he had on the board at the time and they could cover both FJ Platoons as well as harrying the Shermans, preventing a hard push with, or support of the U.S Paras. In saying that, I might have kept the StuG’s on the right, again, holding down the Shermans, and probably brought the Pzr IV’s in support of the crippled FJ Platoon and Pumas. In saying that, I’m sat watching and not playing, it’s always a little different when playing.

Must have changed something in V4 because your para's were inside the woods completely. So anything they shoot at is obscured and +1 to hit.

Yes, if you are within 2" of the edge you count as on the edge and can shoot out without penalty.

You definetely need to keep your company cmd close to your expensive paratroopers to keep them motivated. Relying on hot 3+ counterattacks is not a reliable strategy

Yes they can be pinned down, but they don't have to test for Last Stand as they always count as being in Good Spirits.

An amazing battle report, I'm no expert on the mission and V4 but Sam your 88s were poorly positioned. Apologies if have this wrong? Your battle reports are just terrific, painted models look great scenery how you go through the game is terrific. I have only one real criticism and this is the game in general. Being ex-military myself the one thing that has always annoyed me about the game since V2, is the total random deployment of objectives in missions. The objectives in my eyes are utterly meaningless. Now I have much to catch up on V4 both in the rule book and the intel books but I just see like in this game why were the objectives placed where they were? Was it a bridge, a vital road junction, securing an important piece of intel?? No it was just so random and I look at it from a military point of view, no soldier would want to fight over just some random objective in a field or on the edge of a wood. I know the game is very geared towards the tourney scene, which to me sucks but that's just me experience. I was very active in the tourney scene back in V2 but I never recall a single weekend having enjoyed it based on this very topic i mention above. But Im really enjoying your channel.

That's a really good point that is hard to address in a competitive game like this. I think maybe having a third person design the layout and place objectives might help the realism but potentially play havoc with game balance. Thanks for watching!
