Jon and Sam try out the new Late War Books for Flames of War. Jon takes a US Tank Company from D-Day American book while Sam takes a combined Infantry and Tank Company.

Great to see more flames of war content, always appreciate it. You guys are essentially the only ones posting such quality stuff. Honestly, can’t find new content anymore. As for the result, good players on both sides, but the game played out as it always does when Germans are on the table.

That German list was quite the gamble. With only three tanks per platoon, your formation is very fragile. But for someone who hadn't played v4 yet, he did very well. Overall, it was a good battle report. You only made a few mistakes (regarding the rules) and I'd recommend you keep the two-page cheat sheet close.

We did make some mistakes, we were both a little rusty. Having 3-4 different gaming systems in my head at the same time can sometimes be a little confusing :) 3 tank platoons are very risky and I wouldn't recommend them usually but Sam seemed to make them work okay. If only they could have it their targets.

Great vid. Great paint jobs. Nice clear audio and video. (Not too jerky.) Great paint jobs. A few minor rules mistakes but that's ok. I do the same thing when I play i'm sure. I liked seeing all the dice rolls and the explanation of what roll is needed. I really liked the map and the way areas are divided up to allow the creation of woods. Is it homemade? I don't think I would have rolled my Pz IVs into that corner against the 76s if I could have avoided it. But that's hindsight. Also I think I would have put my PzGr into the wood with the objective, but I know he was going for the Shermans. That's iff with just one faust. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the comments! The mat, l believe, is the bocage map from Front Line Gaming. I like it a lot but don't get to use it often enough. Tactics after the fact are tough. The PZ IVs, if successful, would have knocked out that first Sherman platoon and threaten the flank of any push to either objective. but I do see your point.

In ever 3 the German 2IC could split of and form a little task force...They can't do that anymore?

If you picked a particular Division like the 12th you can fire after a Follow me move which is motivation role at three plus instead of a skill at 4 plus.

Ambush was not placed in deployment area, it was placed in the objective area

IIRC, Their range-in marker was no help and all my other units moved so couldn't be used as observers. Getting them in a better position for later in the game was hopefully going to be more helpful

Can HQ Sherman's roll at the same time as a Sherman unit following the other rules? Nothing says it can't happen but I don't know. The HQ has all the same weapons as regular Sherman's. Edit: Also is it at all cheaty to use the M4 AA guns on infantry? It's a one better halted ROF and slightly better Firepower than the normal mgs. Is that at all wrong?

Tanks can either fire the main gun or ALL machine guns

Yes I understood that but the AA gun is just self defense but has better stats than the ROF 1. Nothing says it can't shoot infantry but I don't have anyone I know that knows the rulebook better than me so this is my only place really to go, but still a good place to go though

Self defence just means that it can fire at aircraft that are attacking it. It can also be used against infantry at the same time as the standard MG

Tanks can get as close as they want to other tank teams, but have to stay 2" from guns and infantry teams.

Tanks cannot move within 5cm of enemy Infantry teams, unless they are assaulting. Tanks can move within 5cm of enemy tanks, no problem.

The mission was for the attacker to hold an objective(single). It makes it a lot harder for the defender as they have to spread out to cover both.

Only if the Tank Platoon has to break off and the bailed out tank is unable to get outside of 6 inches of an assaulting team.
