Question for you - great tutorial BTW. Under our sink is an outlet that powers the disposal with a switch above of the countertop. The problem is, both top and bottom outlets are controled by the switch only. Installing a hot water dispenser to the kitchen sink, but as it, I have to run a 12 Ga wire extension cord around the back of counter top to the hot water dispenser from another plug. So, from what I'm seeing in you tutorial the white neutral then basicically could be taped with red tape to indicate hot.. In other words, I don't have to rerun wire (if even possible) with 12/3 then not use the neutral? This house was built in the early 80's and there is NO 14 Ga wire anywhere. The breakers do have correct 15Amp and 20 Amp for the circuits. 12 ga must have been really cheap back then.... sure seemed odd to me to use 15 amp breakers on a 12 ga wire.

Also on the smart life app you actually can put smart bubs or any smart devices together in a group and then name them for example ,(outside lights ) Then you hit the group like you would with the bulb by them self . Perfect for the holidays where if you want them to change colors and the change in sync too.

How do I make use the Tap-To-Run feature for macros for different colors? There is only “color mode” option and it only lets me select one color.. For example, I can’t have all blue or all green separate buttons, I have to pick one or the other.

Although this video a few years old, I can’t believe you had recommended the Smart Life App. Smart Life app is one of the worst apps to setup and navigate. Yes, it has all the features for different types of lights and switches, but once a light or switch has been add with multiple devices, there is no way to navigate through the app to create groups. Yes, it can be done, but it must be hunted or just plan difficult to find!!!! I guess that is why the other setup features were not illustrated on your video, it is that difficult!

Question, if I’m using a smart switch to turn lights off at a certain time, could a person walk in the room and override that by flipping on the lights with that switch or would it stay off as I’ve set it to do? I’m a caregiver for my mom who has dementia and tends to get her days and nights mixed up. I get the house darkened down and she goes to sleep. My idiot nephew comes in at midnight and turns on the lights and wakes her up and then she’ll roam around half the night while I’m sleeping. Very unsafe. I’m hoping you’ll tell me the smart switch can’t be turned on by a moron during the hours I’ve set it to be off.

Hi...i have this issue with smart life app that my lighting will auto turn on randomly when i am not home, i am using from 1gang to 3 gang without neutral and no using hub. Anyone have this issue, any solution? Thanks
