She explained it at the start of the stream. So for context: She last played HoloCure like over 2 years ago. That was before it was ever on Steam. She also lost her old computer so she lost her old save. She did a little practice and coin farming with Ina first - well duh - and tried to pull a little gacha, and who else but IRyS is the one she manages to pull. Must be fate huh? That's also why she had very little idea how to even play. She didn't know she could aim with her mouse and almost always forgot to use her special. Like in this clip when she died. Very endearingly pon 😊

It's not about Nintendo, it's about it being a copyright of any kind. Japan has weird copyright laws that are often extremely strict. People don't seem to understand that Nintendo's legal department didn't just crawl out of hell one day. It was purposefully developed that way by their country's laws. Putting that aside, I've heard Holomems "censor" the names of candy bars, internet providers, all kinds of random stuff. You can often find jokes in Japanese media that will say a brand name but it will be censored with ◯. For example; H◯◯ey's (Hershey's). They don't strictly _have_ to, I've heard Holomems say brand names plenty of times. it's more or less just a self aware joke about their own laws and companies.

It could be both, nowadays it is well known how strange the copyright and patent laws are in Japan, and also how Nintendo takes advantage of this to be extremely aggressive with anyone who enters their "territory", for a reason they have the current bad reputation, if they are trying to impose a cease and desist on palworld just for throwing balls, nothing tells us that they wouldn't try to do the same with another game that uses paint as ammunition. Although Holocure is not a game that seeks to generate profits, so it is an unlikely situation.

To be fair, there's basically zero chance Nintendo would care about this, because the game isn't making any money, and it's a tiny reference. Plenty of people who have done stuff for Nintendo have said nobody *wants* to take things down, but legally they're obligated to go after things that weaken their IP or risk losing control of the IP
