I was 15 in 1977... I remember very well heading out to Framboise, mostly on Friday/Saturday nights to watch the races.... great times for sure! I agree, this is super rare footage!

Can't believe you have this,thanks for the post.We flipped a car around that stretch one friday night around 1982,all 4 us got thrown out the windows and broke 2 poles completely off,me and my girlfriend were in the back seat,I don't even know who the driver was,it was bad..woke up laying in the swamp peeking on acid and rum,my ear hanging off blood everywhere,we all got hurt pretty bad but nobody died. looking back,I guess I was not the best kid growing up...Thank you lord.

Very cool...reminds me of the old days when they used to drag race over in Kemptown (just east of Truro) on a old piece of of highway that was cut off when they built the TCH. Thanks for sharing.

Hard to beleive, 15 miles from the city of Sydney on a public road. Some guys would trailer their car in make a couple of runs and put it back on the trailer before the cops showed up...awsome..someone got killed in the mid 90s and pretty much put an end to it.

Some of those cars are still racing, most of the drivers are. Remember hearing about a couple of times the Mounties joined in for a run before breaking it up. lol On a backroad, early in the morning, people on both ends watching for traffic, not like the idiots today on major highways or city streets.

They jacked them up to get those big meats under them. But it made for ill handling cars in the corners. We laugh now a days seeing that. Funny thing is the guys who race in the F.A.S.T. series some are running in the 9's on glass belted tires like many of the muscle cars came with. And they aren't chemically treating them either. But I remember when this was the norm.

spent alot of nights out forchu, this was later than 1977, i would say 1983?,many cars would gather in town and wait until around 2 am to head out, the police knew what was going on but we were out just to have some fun.
